Portland, Oregon-based frozen food brand Rösti will reorganize under the name Crispy Filled Inc. after buying out business partner L2M Brands for an undisclosed sum, the company announced this week.

The company partnered with L2M Brands, the venture arm of ingredient supplier Bridgewell Agribusiness, shortly after its 2019 launch and received a capital investment from the firm.

According to a press release, the buyout of L2M’s share in the brand is accompanied by a new growth capital infusion from an undisclosed investor. As the company restructures under the Crispy Filled banner, Stephen Caldwell will continue to serve as president and CEO of the new entity.

“We are so appreciative of all the support provided by L2M and Bridgewell Agribusiness. We were able to grow rapidly during the COVID pandemic thanks to our partnership with L2M,” Stephen Caldwell said in the release. “It positions us well to fast-track our innovation and expansion into the foodservice market segment, while fueling growth with our retail partners.”

Founded as Swiss Rösti in 2017 by husband and wife team Stephen and Lory Caldwell, the company began producing a line of frozen stuffed potatoes and derived its name from a traditional 19th century cuisine popular with Swiss peasants. The brand is available in over 1,700 retail stores across the country, including Whole Foods nationwide, Schnucks, QVC, Tops, Market of Choice and select divisions of Safeway/Albertsons and Kroger. The products are gluten-free and available in Stuffed Baked Potato, Melty 3 Cheese and Melty Swiss Raclette varieties.

Looking ahead, its flagship Stuft Spuds line will be rebranded and the company will also launch a new brand, Fundu Cheese Bites, in the near future, according to the release.

“The Crispy Filled company name reflects the evolution of our company, which will continue our aggressive innovation and marketing of several types of filled frozen products,” Caldwell added.
