Sweets & Snacks 2023: The Latest Innovations from ChocXO, Endangered Species, Joyride and More
The aisles of the Sweets & Snacks Expo 2023 were packed with a wide array of new innovations from both new and existing brands. With 16,000 expected attendees, 2023 marked the last year the show will be held in Chicago, instead rotating between Indianapolis and Las Vegas moving forward. From almond flour crackers to triple chocolate protein bars to Jalapeño Lime popcorn, these new products pull from on-trend flavors in order to offer options designed to fulfill all of consumers’ cravings. Lenny & Larry’s
California-based protein cookie brand Lenny & Larry’s announced the relaunch of The Complete Cookie Strawberry Shortcake. The LTO features naturally flavored strawberry bits and white chocolate chips. Each 2 oz. vegan cookie boasts 8 grams of plant-based protein and 5 grams of fiber. Lenny & Larry’s The Complete Cookie Strawberry Shortcake is available via the brand’s website for $9.99 per 6-count box.

Chocxo
Chocxo has expanded its lineup of organic low-sugar chocolates with the addition of Dark Milk Chocolate Toffee, Almond & Sea Salt Snaps. The new offering features what the brand has dubbed “rich dark milk chocolate,” a 69% cacao chocolate made by blending 85% cacao dark chocolate with milk chocolate. Also containing toffee bits, diced almonds and sea salt, each individually wrapped square has 80 calories and 3 grams of sugar.

Powered by Real Food From The Ground Up’s You Need This brand has added Almond Flour Crackers to its portfolio of snacks. Available in two flavors at launch – Sea Salt and Cheddar – the crackers are crafted from a nut and seed-based flour made from mix of almonds, flaxseeds and sunflower seeds. Both flavors are slated to roll out in June.

FULFIL
Protein bar maker FULFIL has unveiled its newest flavor innovation, Triple Chocolate. The new variety features a nougat center, crispies and a chocolate coating. Each bar packs 15 grams of protein and has just 1 gram of sugar. Fulfil Triple Chocolate will be available at Walmart next month for a SRP of $2.19 per bar.

Popcornopolis
Popcornopolis has expanded its Nearly Naked collection with two new flavor additions, White Cheddar and Jalapeño Lime. Both flavors are made with non-GMO popcorn popped in coconut oil and then lightly seasoned. The Nearly Naked collection is now available in cases of eight 4.5 oz. bags for $27.99 via the brand’s website. Additionally, The Nearly Naked Perfectly Salted variety is rolling out to Sam’s Club locations nationwide through the end of May in club sized 14 oz. bags for $5.98.

Joyride
Better-for-you candy producer Joyride (formerly Project 7) has announced the release of Berry Gummy Guppies. Founder Tyler Merrick said the gummy fish was the last SKU the company needed to reformulate with zero sugar after its relaunch under the Joyride platform. Featuring a mix of blackberry, raspberry and cherry natural flavors, the candy utilizes allulose as its sweetener and contains 80 calories r per 1.7 oz. bag. Joyride Berry Gummy Guppies will launch at select Target locations next month.

Endangered Species
Mission-based chocolate brand Endangered Species has debuted its first line of seasonal chocolate releases including Be Mine Mix (koalas, bears and hearts), Hello Spring Mix (butterflies, bumblebees and tulips), Not So Spooky Mix (wolves, bats and pumpkins) and Merry Mix (penguins, polar bears and trees). Like the rest of Endangered Species’ products, the seasonal shapes are Fairtrade, Non-GMO and gluten-free.
