Something Old, Something New: Lancaster Colony Rebrands as The Marzetti Company

Specialty foods producer Lancaster Colony Corporation has rebranded as The Marzetti Company in an effort to honor its history while entering its next chapter of growth. The Ohio-based company will begin trading under the ticker symbol MZTI.

The Marzetti Company dates back to 1896 as an Italian restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. The establishment was best known for its salad dressings and, today, Marzetti claims to be one of the top market leaders in the refrigerated dressings category.

Lancaster Colony acquired Marzetti in 1969, expanding the business’s portfolio with brands such as Sister Shubert’s dinner rolls, New York Bakery garlic bread and Reames noodles, among others. The company divested all of its non-food businesses by 2014 to position itself as a manufacturer of specialty food products sold into the retail and foodservice channels.

“Marzetti is embarking on a transformational chapter and doing so under the name that started it. More so than ever, consumers want authenticity and transparency from the companies behind their favorite brands,” said David Ciesinski, CEO, in a statement.

Last March, the company ceased operations of its Angelic Bakehouse and Flatout in-store bakery lines and their respective production facilities in Saline, Mich., and Cudahy, Wis. In a statement at the time, Ciesinski said the brands were “not significant contributors to our overall financial results.” The move enabled the company to direct greater focus on its core retail brands – New York Bakery, Sister Shubert’s and Marzetti.

In Q3 2025, The Marzetti Company saw consolidated net sales drop 2.9% to $457.8 million. Retail segment sales slid 2.6%, driven by the impact of the company’s exit from the aforementioned in-store bakery product lines.

Most recently, the company entered into licensing agreements to bring popular restaurant brands into retail, such as Olive Garden, Chick-fil-A, Buffalo Wild Wings, Arby’s, Subway and Texas Roadhouse.

To celebrate its new name and ticker symbol, The Marzetti Company will ring the Nasdaq stock market closing bell on July 10.

“While Lancaster Colony will always be an important part of our heritage, we believe that Marzetti name is critical to positioning ourselves in today’s food industry and communicating the value delivered for customers and shareholders alike,” said Ciesinski.
