Notable New Products: Pickle Flavored Cheese Curds and Honey Hibiscus Vinegar
In this week’s roundup of notable new products, Daily Crunch and Beehive look for inspiration from the popular flavor pickle, and Banza launches what the brand says is its most requested pasta shape.
Daily Crunch x Cleveland Kitchen
Nut brand Daily Crunch has tapped an unlikely pal for its latest collaboration. After soft launching a pickle-inspired flavor at Expo West, the brand has now announced the official debut of Dill Pickle Sprouted Almonds + Pepitas product in collaboration with fermented food maker Cleveland Kitchen. The trail mix contains a “zesty” spice blend and is infused with apple cider vinegar, pickles and pickle juice from Cleveland Kitchen. The new collab product will roll out this fall and will be available for an SRP of $7.99 per 5 oz. pack and $2.99 for the 1.5 oz. size.
Ocean Spray
Cranberry company Ocean Spray is mixing more fruit into its assortents. The brand unveiled its latest snack line – Snack Medley Dried Fruit Mix – in Cran-Blueberry, Cran-Pineapple, and Cran-Mango this week. Each single serve pack of the new mix contains dried “sweet and tangy” cranberries and “other premium fruits.” Snack Medley is available at Walmart stores nationwide for $3.95 per 5-count box and will roll out to Kroger, Meijer, HEB, and Stop & Shop later this summer.
Beehive
Ogden, Utah-based Beehive Creamery will debut its latest innovation, Pickle Curds, exclusively at Trader Joe’s stores this summer. The limited-edition item is made with fresh cow’s milk and tossed in pickle spices including dill and garlic. The new snackable curds are available in a 4 oz. bag for $2.99.
Burlap and Barrel
American Vinegar Works teamed up with spice company Burlap and Barrel to introduce a Honey Hibiscus Vinegar. The new unfiltered, gem-toned liquid is made with honey mead wine, fresh ginger and hibiscus sourced from Egypt. Packed in a 250mL glass bottle, the new small-batch, aged vinegar is available for $12.99 per bottle on the brand’s website.
Del Monte
Del Monte has released two new flavors of its adult-positioned Fruit Refresher snack cups: Pineapple & Mango in Prickly Pear Flavored Fruit Water and Peaches in Honeysuckle Flavored Fruit Water. The new snack cups contain 70% of the recommended Daily Value of Vitamin C, contain no artificial sweeteners or GMO ingredients and are available at retailers including Walmart, Target and Publix and more.
Banza
Responding to popular demand, gluten-free, chickpea pasta brand Banza has added its newest pasta shape: Bucatini. The new product, which is Banza’s 17 pasta shape, is now available on Banza’s website retailing at $59.99 for a 12-pack. With 20g of protein and 8g of fiber per serving, the pasta and launch at Whole Foods Market and on Amazon later this month.
Sippin Snax
Bringing together the classic pairing of beer and peanuts, gourmet bar snack brand Sippin Snax has collaborated with Boston Brewing Company on Samuel Adams Boston Lager Craft Peanuts. The nuts are roasted and seasoned with a spice blend that pairs with a Sam Adams Boston Lager. The collaboration is currently available on both Sam Adams and Sippin Snax websites with plans to exclusively roll out in retail at Total Wine and More locations.
Bono
Adding to its portfolio of specialty food items, Sicilian extra virgin olive oil producer Bono (not related to U2’s lead singer) is releasing Hot Calabrese Peppers in whole and chopped varieties. Grown and harvested in the Calabria region of Southern Italy, the peppers are available through Hannaford and Bashas grocery stores for an SRP of $8.99 per 10 oz. jar. Bono will distribute the line from its new 21,700 sq. ft. headquarters in Landing, New Jersey.
Sunsweet
Dried fruit producer Sunsweet Growers launched two new food products this week: Sierra Trail Bites and Prunes+ Probiotics. Retailing for $3.95, each 5 oz. bag of Sierra Trail Bites is packed with 3g of plant protein and 3g of fiber per serving. Meanwhile, Prunes+ Probiotic has an MSRP of $4.99 per 6 oz. bag and is fortified with BC30 probiotics and prebiotic fiber to promote a healthy gut.
