Trends like high-protein and zero-sugar were on full display across snack brands exhibiting at Natural Products Expo East 2023, along with a drive to open up new use occasions. Here’s a look at some of the recently launched snacks featured at Expo East last week.

Dip maker Cedar’s has launched a four-SKU line of gluten-free Kaak crackers, a traditional Mediterranean biscuit, exclusively at Whole Foods and Amazon. Besides pita chips, Cedar’s has dipped into the snack category but is more known for its varieties of hummus, salads, salsas and tzatzikis. The six-ounce boxes of corn flour-based crackers retail for $6.99 each and are available in Plain, Olive, Sesame and Thyme varieties.

Joolies Date Pops

Joolies Organic Medjool Dates brought its Date Pop energy bites to Expo East. The plant-based bites contain no added sugar and are being offered in Lemon Bar, Cinnamon Bun and Peanut Butter Jelly flavors. The new snack will join the Southern California-based company’s line of whole dates, Date Toppers and date syrups.

Lyfe Chips

ZeroCarb Lyfe released its Lyfe Chips made from 100% chicken breast and available in House and BBQ flavors. Each one ounce bag contains 14 grams of protein and zero sugar or carbs. A six-bag case retails on the company website for $20.99. Like all ZeroCarb Lyfe products the new protein chips are gluten-free and keto- and diabetic-friendly.

As part of its expansion out of the freezer aisle, plant-based snack brand Must Love was sampling its new Classic Graham Cookies at Expo East this year. The cookies come in 10 oz. bags with SRP of $12. In November, the Los Angeles-based company launched two flavors of Frosted Cookies – Birthday Cake and Chocolate – as it expanded from its roots in dairy-free ice creams made from oat milk and banana into center store snacks.

Launching exclusively in Target stores and on Target.com, BelliWelli showed off its new Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor. The gut health bars retail for $8.99 per 4-pack. Dark Chocolate is the sixth variety in the brand’s portfolio of prebiotic, dairy-free, low-sugar and certified low FODMAP snack bars.

Protein chip maker Wilde Brands has a new flavor of its snackable chicken chips: Spicy Queso. The new variety joins the brand’s portfolio of Chicken & Waffles, Nashville Hot, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Barbeque, Himalayan Pink Salt and Buffalo Chicken flavors. The chips come in 4 oz. bags – each packing 10-grams of protein – and are made with chicken, egg whites and chicken bone broth. On Wilde’s website, a 12-pack costs $99.
