Expo East 2023 Rebrand Gallery: Rob’s Backstage Popcorn, Cometeer and Soom Unveil Revamped Packaging

Though the show may primarily be known as a launch platform for new products, dozens of brands took to the last ever Natural Products Expo East to highlight rebrands and packaging refreshes across existing products and formats. Check out this gallery to see the fresh new looks from brands including Rob’s Backstage Popcorn, Eat the Change, Tucson Foods and Cometeer.

Eat the Change

Plant-based snacking brand Eat the Change is reinvigorating the packaging for its Cosmic Carrot Chews, trading in its kid-focused, outer-space-themed packaging for bright colors and retro typography. Additionally, the flavor names – Sour Cherry Berry and Orange Mango – have been simplified to appeal to a wider array of consumers. Eat the Change’s Cosmic Carrot Chews are available for $13.99 per 3-carton pack. Each carton contains five packets of carrot chews.

Rob’s Backstage Popcorn

Celebrity-backed Rob’s Backstage Popcorn showcased a complete redesign of its bags. In an effort to lean into its celebrity positioning with the Jonas Brothers, the brand will roll out new packaging for its Sweet & Salty flavor featuring the trio that resembles an album cover. Packaging for the brand’s other flavor collaborations highlights celebrities like Kelly Clarkson and Priyanka Chopra. The refresh comes as Rob’s focuses on scaling following a $7 million funding round back in March. Rob’s Backstage Popcorn retails for $23.99 per 4-pack of 4 oz. bags.

Hillside Harvest

Boston-based Hillside Harvest updated its hot sauce bottle labels to include more flavor cues and bright colors to better differentiate between flavors. Each variety – Pineapple Fresno, Sun Kissed Tomato, Original Hot Pepper and Carrot Escovitch – also features illustrations of the ingredients found inside. The brand’s hot sauces are available for $9.99 per 5 oz. bottle.

Soom

Just eight months after entering the snack category with its Tahini Bites, Soom has given its latest innovation a new name and look. Now called Snack Bites to better convey its use case, the products’ packaging features detailed product imagery. Additionally, the flavor names – Cherry Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Brownie and Pumpkin Spice – have been enlarged. The trio is available online for $14.99 or in individual bags for $5.49 each.

Tucson Tamale

After launching its bite-sized tamales at Expo West in March, Tucson Tamale took to Expo East to show off its colorful new packaging across its entire product portfolio – which also includes salsas, hot sauces and full-size, frozen tamales.

Happy Grub

Squeezable instant pancake mix maker Happy Grub has undergone a packaging refresh that features brighter, bolder colors. Additionally, the brand’s on-bottle mascots are now pictured using the product. Offered in four varieties – Buttermilk, Yummy Banana, Apple Cinnamon and Whole Wheat – the pancake mixes are available via the brand’s website for $39.99 per 4-pack of 8.5 oz. squeeze bottles.

Cometeer

On the heels of its launch in Erewhon and Sprouts, flash-frozen coffee producer Cometeer has unveiled new packaging it believes will help the brand stand out in the freezer case. Whereas the old packaging was black with a colored band, the refreshed packaging features a different color for each individual SKU and a photo of what’s inside. Additionally, the new boxes feature an easy-to-use rip top.
