March saw several snack brands expand into new categories, from Hu’s grain-free cookies to LesserEvil’s toddler-friendly puffs. Renewal Mill x Burlap & Barrel

Upcycled baking mix maker Renewal Mill teamed up with single-origin spice company Burlap & Barrel on a new limited edition Snickerdoodle Cookie Mix, made with Burlap & Barrel’s Royal Cinnamon and Renewal Mill’s upcycled okara flour. The vegan and gluten-free mix is available on both companies’ websites for $7.99.

Snack brand Hu moved into a new category with the launch of grain-free, low sugar cookies. Offered in Chocolate Chip, Ginger Snap, Peanut Butter and Snickerdoodle flavors, the cookies are sold on the brand’s website and Amazon in 3-packs of ($14.99) and variety packs ($19.99), and will be hitting Sprouts stores nationwide in April.

Fermented food brand CHI Kitchen rolled out two new fermented condiments, Sesame Slaw (fermented cabbage with ginger, sesame and wasabi) and Kimchi Pickles (fermented pickles with garlic, ginger and spicy Korean red pepper). The products are sold online and in Whole Foods in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

San Diego-based Chuao Chocolatier added a new Carrot Cake chocolate bar to its offerings, made with caramelized white chocolate. The new flavor is available in singles ($6) and 12-packs ($67.800) of 2.8 oz. chocolate bars and 24-packs ($22.95) and 100-packs ($88) of 0.39 oz. mini chocolate bars on the brand’s website.

The latest launch from salty snack maker Quinn is Maple Almond Butter Pretzel Nuggets. Made with whole grain sorghum, the gluten-free pretzel nuggets have hit shelves nationwide at Whole Foods for $5.49 per 5 oz. bag.

Seafood brand Blue Circle Foods launched Deli-Style Atlantic Salmon Salad in Lemon & Herb flavor. Made with sustainably farmed salmon from Norway, the Salmon Salad is available at Winn-Dixie locations.

Boston-based snack startup K2 Ventures debuted new protein snack brand Brave Good Kind, rolling out Tender Chicken Bites as its first product. Offered in Original, Teriyaki and Hot Honey varieties, the jerky bites contain nine to 10 grams of protein, five to seven grams of carbs and less than six grams of sugar per serving. The bites are sold in 2.25 oz. bags in packs of 10 ($59.99) and six ($39.99) on Amazon and the brand’s website.

The latest launch from Bulletproof is Sleep Collagen, a protein sleep beverage mix formulated with collagen, melatonin, chamomile and magnesium citrate. The new mix comes in Lucuma Vanilla flavor, sold for $33.99 per 10.4 oz. jar.

After quietly testing it in select retailers last year, KIND has officially launched its first frozen breakfast offering, KIND Frozen Smoothie Bowls, in retailers nationwide. Made with a fruit and almond milk base and topped with nut butter and granola, the bowls contain nine grams of added sugar and seven to eight grams of protein. The bowls are available in four varieties: Almond + Mango Pineapple Passion Fruit, Almond + Triple Berry Açaí, Almond + Chocolate Banana and Almond + Peach Kiwi Greens.

Yogurt maker Siggi’s rolled out a lower sugar 2% lowfat yogurt line in new light blue packaging at retailers nationwide in a variety of flavors and sizes including 5.3 oz. cups, 4-packs and 24 oz. tubs. The brand also added to its plant-based line with new coconut probiotic drinks and a 24 oz. Vanilla yogurt tub.

Plant-based dip and spread brand Hope Foods debuted a new hummus flavor, Avocado Lime, made with organic chickpeas and Hass avocados. The new launch is sold in 8 oz. tubs for $4.99 at retailers such as Sprouts and Safeway.
