Little Sesame Unveils State-of-the-Art Factory Near D.C.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 22, 2026) –– Fastest-growing national brand in the Total Grocery hummus category, Little Sesame, today announced the grand opening of its new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility just outside of Washington, D.C. The opening of the 23,600-square-foot facility in Capitol Heights, Maryland (9200 Alaking Ct), marks a monumental step in the company's mission to scale its hummus and snacks across the nation.
The new factory will dramatically increase Little Sesame's production capacity, moving from an annual output of 4 million pounds to a projected 20 million pounds at full capacity—a fivefold increase. This expansion is designed to meet soaring consumer demand driven by the brand's quality, taste, and pioneering commitment to regeneratively grown chickpeas.
Scaling Growth and Impact
The facility's immediate impact on Little Sesame's national expansion is profound. The company is currently in approximately 4,000 stores; this new capacity allows Little Sesame to expand in mass channels, reaching new customers across the country.
The factory provides Little Sesame with end-to-end control of its product, featuring a full office suite for its rapidly growing operations team and a larger production space capable of running four lines simultaneously (up to 400,000 pounds per week). This includes a dedicated snack production line for its popular Kids Hummus Cups, and a new R&D kitchen will push the boundaries of flavor and product development.
"This new facility provides the infrastructure that allows us to truly deliver on our promise of delicious, real food that's better for people and the planet, at the scale the market is demanding," said Nick Wiseman, CEO and Co-Founder of Little Sesame. "With this expansion, we can continue to push the boundaries of our category and prove that a healthy business and a sustainable food system can go hand-in-hand."
Outpacing Legacy Giants
Little Sesame's growth has consistently outperformed the category, proving that today's consumers are looking for better tasting, healthy, values-driven food. The brand is now the 5th largest hummus company in the U.S. with plans for significant new distribution.
The new D.C.-area factory is expected to create up to 50 new jobs over the coming years, expanding the Little Sesame team, which has already grown from 40 employees at the beginning of 2024 to more than 60 employees in 2026.
