August New Product Gallery: Snacks, Sides and Meals
The second part of our monthly new products gallery takes a look at the new snacks, sides and meals that hit shelves in August. Brands turned to comfort foods and flavors last month, with cheesy snack and meal offerings from 8Myles, Feel Good Foods and Good Health and two new varieties of refried beans from A Dozen Cousins. Lightlife
Lightlife added to its tempeh line with the launch of Buffalo Tempeh Strips, naturally fermented tempeh marinated in buffalo sauce. Containing 18 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber per serving, the new flavor has hit shelves at Albertsons, Wegmans, Sprouts and other select retailers.
A Dozen Cousins
A Dozen Cousins, maker of meals and sides inspired by Creole, Caribbean and Latin-American recipes, launched two refried beans products. Its Refried Black Beans and Classic Refried Pinto Beans both feature spices and mild green chiles, available on the brand’s website and on Amazon for $29.99 per 8-pack.
Pacific Foods
Pacific Foods rolled out two new internationally inspired plant-based creamy soup varieties: Organic Creamy Moroccan Sweet Potato Soup and Organic Creamy Golden Cauliflower Soup with Turmeric. The shelf-stable soups are sold for $3.99 per 32 oz. resealable carton.
RXBAR
RXBAR The latest launch from RXBAR is RXBAR Layers, a new layered protein bar featuring egg whites for protein, nuts for texture and dates to bind, along with nut butter and honey. The bars contain 14 to 15 grams of protein per bar, offered in Chocolate Almond and Peanut Butter Chocolate flavors at Whole Foods nationwide.
Sun Basket
Meal delivery service Sun Basket launched its Fresh & Ready meal line, served in premium wood trays that can go straight into the oven or microwave. Meals start at $10.99 per serving and are available as part of Sun Basket’s weekly meal plan.
VK Energy
Chef Vikki Krinsky, star of CBS and Hulu’s “Recipe Rehab,” launched VK B12 Energy Bars. The line consists of three flavors: Almond Rosemary, Cocoa & Sea Salt and Meyer Pistachio, all crafted around three key ingredients: rosemary, olive oil and chickpea flour along with vitamin B12. VK Energy Bars are sold on the brand’s website for $48 per 12-pack.
8Myles
Mac and cheese brand 8Myles expanded its offering with new Mac N’ Cheese Bites, available in Three Cheese, Buffalo and BBQ flavors. The bites are sold in the freezer section in all five Union Kitchen stores in Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
4505 Meat
4505 Meat teamed up with Whisps for its first ever snack mix product, Cheese-Chicharrones Snack Mix, featuring a blend of 4505’s Chicharrones and Cracklins mixed with Whisps Cheddar Cheese Crisps. The keto-friendly snack mix will be available exclusively on Amazon and in Whole Foods stores nationwide later this fall in family size 7 oz. bags ($12.99) and 2.5 oz. bags ($4.99).
Feel Good Foods
Frozen food brand Feel Good Foods’ has put an adult twist on a kids classic with new gluten-free Mac & Cheese Bites. The bites come in two flavors, Truffle and Sausage & Kale, and can be found in Whole Foods stores nationwide for $5.99.
Good Health
Good Health teamed up with Organic Valley on two new cheesy snacks: Baked Cheese Puffs and Baked Cheese Fries. Available at retailers nationwide and on Utz Snacks’ ecommerce site, the Baked Cheese Puffs come in Mac & Cheese flavor, while the Cheese Fries are offered in Cheddar and Hot & Spicy varieties.
Granarly
Granarly released Groovy Green, a gluten-free and vegan whole grain snack of amaranth and apples and sweetened with avocado, dates and maple syrup. Groovy Green is sold in single-serve 2 oz. pouches as well as packs of 6, 12 and 24 on the brand’s website.
LesserEvil
Snack brand LesserEvil rolled out two new pantry items this month, the brand’s first foray beyond snacking. Its Organic Popcorn Kernels are available in five pound bags for $12.99, white its Egg White Powder, intended for smoothies, shakes and baking, comes in 16 oz. bag for $19.99.
