Gut-health food brand Supergut has evolved since its inception in 2019 (previously called Muniq). Always positioned as a weight loss and meal replacement brand, Supergut uses a science-back approach to formulating its three product lines — shakes, snack bars and a probiotic powder mix — that claim to control appetite through building a strong gut microbiome.

Founder and CEO Marc Washington talked to Nosh about how the brand has found a niche in the market as interest in GLP-1 drugs has become a focal point of the food and beverage industry. Supergut is gaining recognition among drug users who need to supplement or “off-ramp” from the weight loss treatment as well as among “Ozempic curious” consumers who are looking for a cheaper alternative to getting a prescription.
