Notable New Products: Ted Lasso-inspired Ice Cream & Air Fried Kettle Chips
In this week’s notable new products roundup, Jeni’s Ice Cream takes inspiration from Ted Lasso for its newest flavor, Morningstar Farms teams up with Pringles to create Chik’n Fries and Kettle Chips launches what might be the first air-fried packaged snack on the market.
Jeni’s x Warner Bros.
Jeni’s teamed up with Warner Bros. to release its new Ted Lasso-inspired flavor, Biscuits with The Boss. The new collaboration features bits of shortbread cookies mixed with a buttery sweet cream ice cream base. Biscuits with The Boss will be available online for nationwide shipping and via the Jeni’s app for pickup and delivery starting March 2.
MorningStar Farms x Pringles
Plant-based meat producer MorningStar Farms partnered with Pringles to launch its newest innovation, Chik’n Fries. Available in two Pringles-inspired flavors – Original and Scorchin’ Cheddar Cheese – the new offering features plant-based chik’n coated in the crispy chips. Each serving contains 11 grams of protein and, according to the brand, 41% less fat than the leading homestyle chicken fries. Additionally, MorningStar expanded its breakfast lineup into Breakfast Bites made with vegan egg, sausage, dairy free cheddar-style cheese, onions and red bell peppers. Both products will be available for purchase later this year.
Good Pop
Better-for-you frozen treat brand Good Pop launched a new line extension of its fudgy oat milk-based frozen dessert bars. Available in four flavors – Fudge n’ Vanilla Crunch, Double Chocolate Fudge, Fudge n’ Caramel and Mint n’ Fudge Chip – the bars are either dipped in fudge or contain fudge chips, depending on the flavor. The gluten-free treats contain 130 calories or less. Good Pop’s new bars are available for a suggested retail price of $5.99 per box of four.
Nguyen Coffee
Nguyen Coffee supply announced the release of its newest LTO, Vietnamese Anaerobic Robusta coffee. The new offering is farmed in the central highlands of Vietnam and processed with an anaerobic method. The beans are handpicked from trees grown in basaltic soil, fermented for 25 days and sun dried for an additional eight days prior to roasting. The robusta has a score of 85.25 and is available online for $28 per bag.
Alec’s Ice Cream
Taking inspiration from its founder’s favorite childhood candy, Butterfinger, Alec’s Ice Cream recently unveiled a new Peanut Butter Fudge Honeycomb flavor. The frozen treat features a peanut butter base with swirls of fudge and chocolate-covered “honeycomb toffee” pieces. The new flavor is available online for $11.99 per 14 oz. container.
Bob’s Red Mill
Bob’s Red Mill expanded its line of specialty flours with the addition of 00 Flour, “prized for its powdery-fine texture and higher protein content.” According to senior VP Ally Borozan, the flour is ideal for making thin pizza crusts and was tested in both home and traditional pizza ovens. Bob’s Red Mill 00 Flour is now available at retailers nationwide.
Ready. Set. Food!
Allergy introduction system Ready. Set. Food! launched new Organic Oat & Fruit Bars in Peanut Butter Strawberry and Apple Cinnamon flavors. Both bars include eight of the top ten allergens: peanut, egg, milk, cashew, almond, walnut, sesame and soy. The bars are available in 2-count variety packs with each box retailing for about $8.
Flight Fuel
TikTok star Chris Olsen has entered the CPG world with the release of his new sustainable coffee brand, Flight Fuel. Inspired by Olsen’s “Flying for Coffee” series where he hand delivers coffee to the likes of Kamala Harris, Ashley Tisdale and Megan Trainor, each Flight Fuel product is named after one of the world’s major airports. The line currently includes three whole bean blends – LHR Cowboy, SFO Caramel and DCA Hazelnut – which are available online for $22 per 12 oz. bag.
Kettle Brand
Kettle-cooked chip maker Kettle Brand unveiled its new kettle-cooked, air-fried potato chips. Available in three varieties – Sea Salt & Vinegar, Jalapeño and Himalayan Salt – the chips are the first-to-market air-fried snack, the brand claims. Kettle Brand Air Fried Chips are available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $4.79 per 6.5 oz. bag.
