Category enhancement and reinvention often comes into view through product innovations scheduled to be seen at Expo West. Here’s a look at the latest products that companies plan to use to redefine the chilled snack category.

KIND recently moved into the refrigerated bars category with the launch of its new Nut Butter Bar line, available in Almond Butter Blueberry, Almond Butter Dark Chocolate, Peanut Butter Crunch and Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate flavors. The bars contain 12 to 14 g of protein, and have a suggested retail price of $2.49. As it looks to expand throughout the store, KIND is also launching additional innovations including new Bark, Chewy Minis, Nut Clusters and Chocolate Nut Bars.

Lavva

Plant-based yogurt brand Lavva announced its new Molten Lavva line of pili nut-based indulgent yogurts. The keto-friendly line’s five flavors -- Chocolate, Chocolate Raspberry, Espresso, Vanilla Chai and Key Lime -- will be available in 4 oz. cups.

Justin's

Justin’s is expanding its portfolio of nut butter snacks with the release of chilled Almond Butter Protein Bars, refrigerated gluten-free and dairy-free bars containing 9 to 10 g of protein. The bars will launch in retailers later this year in three flavors: Almond Butter, Honey Almond Butter and Chocolate Chip Almond Butter.

After the launch of its Greek Yogurt with Almond Butter in January, Oikos continues to expand its refrigerated snacking platform with the release of Oikos PRO bars: nut butter-based bars with 20 g of protein and less than 8 g of sugar. The bars will be available in Chocolate Peanut Butter, Lemon Raspberry, Salted Caramel Almond and Blueberry Cashew flavors.

Vital Farms, which currently offers pasture-raised eggs, butter and ghee, is launching Egg Bites, snackable single-serve egg and cheese muffins. The new product will be available in Bacon & Cheddar Cheese, Roasted Red Bell Pepper & Mozzarella, Ham, Bell Peppers, Onions & Cheddar, and Sun-Dried Tomato, Basil & Mozzarella. Each two-pack of gluten-free muffins contains 16-18 g of protein, depending on the flavor, and will have a suggested retail price of $4.99.

Bright Foods

Bright Foods

Bright Foods is expanding beyond its Veggie & Fruit Bars with the launch of Chilled Protein Bars. The dairy and egg-free refrigerated bars will debut in Peanut Butter Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Sea Salt flavors and contain 12 to 13 g of protein and 8 to 10 g of sugar. Bright Foods will launch the bars in the Whole Foods SoPac region this month before rolling out to Sprouts nationally in May.

Egg brand NestFresh is releasing EGG POP!, cage-free hard cooked eggs on bamboo sticks, packaged with either dip or a dry seasoning. Launching in Sriracha Ranch, Deviled Egg, Hot Wing and Ranch flavors, the line will have an MSRP of $3.49 for a two-egg pack.

CORE Foods

CORE Foods

CORE Foods will expand its presence in the chilled bar category with the launch of CORE Energy Bars. Each bar will contain 65 mg of caffeine along with probiotics, prebiotic fiber and 6 g of protein. Available in three flavors -- Mocha Chip Espresso, Strawberry Basil Tea and Caramel Coffee Crunch -- the bars will launch online and in retailers nationwide in May.

Brekki

Under its new ownership team, overnight oats brand Brekki is rolling out a new line of overnight oats cups with fruit on the bottom, in Apple & Cinnamon, Banana & Maple Brown Sugar, Acai Berry and Strawberry varieties. The brand also announced it will transition to 5.3 oz cups (the standard serving size in yogurt) and will use pasteurization to extend the product’s shelf life.
