Malloy in as CEO in at Hail Merry

Just five months after a shakeup that led to the appointment of a temporary CEO, Hail Merry has filled the job full time.

The vegan, dessert-centric, snack brand Hail Merry announced the hire of CPG veteran Andy Malloy as CEO today.

In August the brand announced that then-CEO Sarah Chapin would be stepping down as CEO and Mark Rampolla, who had invested in the company through his fund PowerPlant Ventures, would be taking the reins as interim CEO.

Now the brand is ready to shift to a more permanent solution with Malloy, who most recently served as Vice President of Commercial Sales for NatureBox. Malloy joined NatureBox in April of 2015 to help the company, at the time an online-only snack brand, start seling products in brick and mortar retailers.

Malloy has spent over 25 years in the snack industry, including time spent as Vice President of Sales for Bare Snacks as well at fruit squeeze brand, Materne North America (GoGo SqueeZ), He also held several leadership roles with PepsiCo/Frito-Lay.

The addition of Malloy comes ahead of schedule. In August, Rampolla told NOSH that the brand was planning to search for a CEO in 2017 and that he was “prepared to do this as long as it takes.”

Going forward, Rampolla will transition from the day-to-day leadership of Hail Merry to Chairman of the Board. This will allow him to spend more time focusing on Powerplant Ventures. Hail Merry had raised $1.75 million from Powerplant in July 2015 as part of a larger $6 million fund lead by private equity firm HBC Investments.
