Expo East Gallery: New Sauces & Condiments Bring The Flavor

The Philadelphia Convention Hall were filled with a wide assortment of new condiments, sauces and dressings during Expo East, each aiming to bring a punch of flavor (and better-for-you credibility) to various cooking occasions.

Four new SKUs from Simmer by Simply Served

Simmer by Simply Served

Pouched sauce brand Simmer by Simply Served brought four new cooking sauces to Philadelphia last week. The brand is branching out of its pasta and pizza sauce roots and into Asian (Pad Thai and Teriyaki Stir Fry sauces) and Latin (Fajita and Taco cooking sauces) varieties. The eight-ounce pouches hold two servings each and are vegan, gluten free and non-gmo.

Fila Manila is moving into pouched sauces

At Expo East Filipino brand Fila Manila debuted new packaging formats for its line of sauces and condiments. Originally sold in glass jars, the brand is shifting to a plastic squeeze bottle format for its Banana Ketchup and Adobo BBQ condiments and a pouch format for its reformulated cooking sauces. With a new 8 oz package, versus its prior 12 oz jar, the company has been able to drop pricing per unit for the sauces.

Upcycled food company Matriark Foods pasta sauces

Newly launched upcycled food company Matriark Foods highlighted its three SKU line of pasta sauces: Tomato Basil, Gentle Marinara and Spicy Arrabbiata. The 18 oz. cartons are non-gmo, no sugar added and are all Upcycled Certified. Thanks to its use of upcycled tomatoes and lighter TetraPak packaging, the brand says its sauces have 37% lower carbon emissions per carton. All the sauces have a 24 month shelf life and are currently available at Imperfect Foods and Hive Brands.

Truff White Truffle Oil

Truff White Truffle Oil

Oil and sauce maker Truff showcased its infused real White Truffle Oil, which launched last week. The neutral olive oil is infused with real white truffles to create a decadent finisher for steaks, pastas, hors d’oeuvres or salads. The six-ounce bottles retail for $29.99 and complement the brand’s black truffle oil.

Texas-based Brianna’s Fine Salad Dressings came to Expo East with its new flavor Garlic Vinaigrette. The small-batch salad topper contains apple cider vinegar, garlic, oil, cracked pepper and other seasonings to make a new addition to the brand’s gluten-free, Kosher and vegan portfolio. Garlic Vinaigrette is also free from soy, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, nuts, eggs or dairy and is available in 12 oz. glass bottles.

Mushroom jerky brand Munchrooms unveiled its first non-snack product: Umami Bomb. The shitake mushroom spread is available in a 3.5 oz jar, can be used as topper or cooking sauce and also sports a new branding that the company is rolling out.
