TreeHouse Foods posted a net sales decline of 2.8% to $839.1 million and pared down its full-year 2024 forecast as the manufacturer attempts to recapture the opportunity in private-label.

The number of serious illnesses caused by a Listeria outbreak linked to contaminated deli meat continues to climb, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which last week reported a total of 59 hospitalizations and 10 deaths across 19 states since its investigation began in July.

The issue was discovered when a consumer submitted a complaint to the USDA. Osso Co-Founder and CFO Toran Hilmer told NOSH that the complaint was submitted as an “anonymous tip.”

In less than a week, two major brands — Sabra and Clif Bar — and a store brand from retailer HEB have all announced recalls due to manufacturing issues.
