Uglies® Kettle Chips, which
turns ‘ugly potatoes’ into beautifully delicious kettle chips, is exhibiting
for the first time at the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS)
Show this year. The brand will educate
attendees about its mission-driven purpose and sample its delicious kettle
chips at Booth #C3897 in the Exhibit Hall, as it works to expand its
presence in C-stores.
The convenience store channel has become a growing distribution priority
for the upcycled Uglies brand, which has expanded its focus within the channel
over the past year. The brand has become
the premier kettle chip brand for all Buc-ee’s locations in addition to gaining
presence at a number of regional convenience stores in key markets. Uglies recently rolled out a new 2-ounce
hole-punched bag, making it easier to display and merchandize the product for
grab-and-go C-store buyers.
Uglies, a division of Dieffenbach's
Potato Chips Inc., is on a mission to reduce waste, support farmers, and fight
hunger by using imperfect potatoes, which would otherwise be food waste, to
craft delicious kettle-cooked potato chips. Twenty-six percent of U.S. produce
gets discarded for cosmetic reasons, and Uglies is part of the solution to
reduce this waste. Uglies also fights childhood hunger by directing a portion
of profits towards charity.
Uglies
Kettle Chips are the only kettle chips that are Upcycled Certified™ by the Upcycled Food Association. The brand is celebrating a significant milestone this
month, reaching 30 million pounds of “ugly potatoes” that have been rescued to
make ‘Naturally Imperfect. Honestly Delicious.™’ kettle chips, since its
inception in 2017.
“We are excited to be participating in NACS for the first time, as we
continue to grow our business in the C-Store Channel, said Jim Biondolillo, Senior
Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Our brand has been experiencing tremendous
growth over the past 3 years and the convenience channel is an important part
of our ongoing growth strategy for the future. We are hoping to encourage more
C-store customers to ‘get ugly’ with our delicious kettle chips that help
farmers and reduce food waste,” he added.
