Survey Reveals Moms Seek Quiet Time Through Snacks — Diana's Unveils Quiet-Time Snack Matrix for Summer Serenity
A new survey conducted by Macaroni Kid, a leading activity guide and news platform for families, and Diana’s™, a freezer aisle icon crafting wholesome snacks with simple ingredients for the whole family, has revealed that parents increasingly rely on snacks to create moments of peace, and even make purchasing decisions based on length of enjoyment — with nutritious snacks that occupy kids for longer landing at the top of grocery lists.
According to the survey conducted via MacaroniKid.com of 250,000 moms, a remarkable 90% of respondents reported that they “seek quiet time from their kids through snacks.”
After the pandemic increased both kids’ and adults’ reliance on screens, 60% of parents say they try to limit their child’s screen usage to some extent. Throughout the summer months, parents are tapping into alternatives, from camps and classes to snacks to buy a few extra precious moments of peace.
“The summer months can create a lot of overwhelm and anxiety for parents to keep their kids occupied, without resorting to screens,” said Ellen Bradley Windell, LCSW Clinical Director and family therapist, based in Los Angeles. “Outdoor play has been replaced by screen time, which can lead to an increased risk of childhood obesity, as well as social and mental health issues. Encouraging screen-free activities, including enjoying nutritious snacks, is a positive way for parents to manage this challenge while promoting healthier habits.”
