Notable New Products: Churro-flavored Ice Cream, Plus Tingly Ted’s Hot Sauce
In this week’s notable new products roundup, Kraft Heinz teams up with musician Ed Sheeran to launch a new hot sauce, Ben & Jerry’s takes inspiration from a classic global treat and Babybel releases its first new flavor since 2014.
Kraft Heinz x Ed Sheeran
Kraft Heinz has teamed up with famed musician Ed Sheeran to craft a new hot sauce under the newly-created Tingly Ted’s brand. Available in two varieties – Tingly and Xtra Tingly – the sauce is made with red jalapeños and capsicum chilies. Tingly Ted’s is slated to roll out later this year but is currently available for pre-order online.
Wildway
Grain-free granola maker Wildway expanded its portfolio with the launch of Dark Chocolate Strawberry Granola, which combines unsweetened cocoa with dried strawberries. The new flavor is available online and at HEB for $5.99 per 8 oz. bag.
Death Wish Coffee Co.
Death Wish Coffee Co. has unveiled its newest roast, Columbia Blend. The new blend is crafted with arabica beans from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta Mountains of Columbia in addition to Indian robust beans. Death Wish Coffee Co. Columbia Blend features tasting notes of toasted almonds and plums and is available online in 12 oz. ground or whole bean bags for $19.99 or in a 10-count box of death cups for $17.99.
Vega
Plant-based nutrition company Vega has introduced two new Nut Butter Shakes. The protein powders are available in two flavors – Peanut Butter and Peanut Butter & Banana – with each scoop packing 20 grams of protein and 85% less fat than adding 2 tbsp of peanut butter to a regular shake, the brand claims. Both flavors are available online for $34.89 per 18 oz. container.
Ben & Jerry’s
Ben & Jerry’s newest flavor, Churray for Churros, takes inspiration from the classic global treat. The new offering features a “crunch, buttery texture” and flavors of cinnamon and sugar. Ben & Jerry’s Churray for Churros will be available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $5.99-$6.49.
Alani Nu
Health and wellness brand Alani Nu unveiled its an improved recipe for its gummy snacks, Alani Gummi. Available in two formats – Gummy Bears and new Smoothie Gummy Rings – the gummies have just 2 grams of sugar per serving. Each 1.8 oz. bag of gummy bears features watermelon, fruit punch and grape flavors while smoothie gummy rings come in apple & grape, strawberry & mango and mixed berry flavors. Alani Gummies are now available online for $34.99 per 12-pack.
Babybel
Cheese company Babybel is expanding its line with the release of Mini Babybel Monterey Jack, the brand’s first new flavor since 2014. The new wheel which launches after 15 months of product development and consumer testing, has 4 grams of protein per serving. Additionally, the brand has launched a reformulated version of its Mini Babybel Mozzarella, which packs 4 grams of protein and contains just 70 calories.
Oishii
Vertical farming brand Oishii launched its newest strawberry variety, The Koyo Berry. According to the brand, The Koyo Berry is a Japanese cultivar traditionally grown just outside of Tokyo during the winter months. The hydroponically grown strawberry is “marked by its refreshing sweetness, balanced acidity, fragrant aroma and slightly firm texture.” The Koyo Berry is available via FreshDirect in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut for a suggested retail price of $15 per tray.
