Notable New Products: Kelp Chili Crisp & S’mores-Flavored Vegan Cookie Dough

This week’s roundup of notable new products saw brands launching heat-and-eat meals inspired by global flavors, creating better-for-you, vegan versions of classic candy bars and crafting a spicy sauce with “one of the most sustainable foods on the planet.”

Barnacle Foods

In collaboration with YouTube fisherman and chef Taku Condo, Barnacle Foods introduced a new Kelp Chili Crisp. The sauce combines Alaska-grown kelp with chiles de arbol, fried onion and garlic. Kelp is known as one of “the most regenerative and sustainable foods on the planet,” according to the brand, and contains over 50 vitamins and minerals. Barnacle Foods Kelp Chili Crisp is available online for $10.95 per 4.6 oz. jar.

DEUX

Vegan cookie dough brand Deux teamed up with wellness influencers Dale & Elizabeth from Sweats & the City to launch its newest flavor: S’mores. The limited edition flavor pays homage to the classic campfire treat with graham cracker crumbs, mini marshmallows and chocolate chips.Enhanced with reishi and ginseng, DEUX S’mores is available online for $15 per 12 oz. jar.

Wicked Kitchen

Plant-based global food brand Wicked Kitchen expanded its CPG lineup to include frozen artisan pizzas and frozen heat-and-eat meals. The wood-fired artisan pizzas, available in The Wicked Meaty, The Saucy Motz and Rulebreakin’ Rustic Veg varieties, have an MSRP of $9.99 each. The 14 oz. heat-and-eat entrees are available in four varieties: Naked Burrito with Beyond Meat, Korean Inspired Bowl with Beyond Meat, Peng Panang Tofu Curry and Seriously Sriracha Tofu & Rice with a suggested retail price of $5.99.

Aldens

Oregon-based ice cream maker Aldens kicked off the fall season early with the return of its Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream and Sammies. The former is available for $10.99 per 1.5 quart container and the latter is available for $5.99 per 4-sandwich box. In September, the brand will roll out its Peppermint Twist Ice Cream and Bars to celebrate the holiday season.

Pacific Foods

Pacific Foods expanded its ready-to-serve soup lineup with a new line of plant-based chilis. Available in three varieties – Fire Roasted Vegetable Chili, Harvest Black Bean Chili and White Bean Verde Chili – the new line features ingredients like tomatillos, roasted poblano peppers and black quinoa. Additionally, Pacific Foods has refreshed 11 of its soups, now offered in can packaging.

Mary’s Gone Crackers

Mary’s Gone Crackers grew its product line with Mary’s Gone Cheezee Crackers. Available in two flavors – Plant-Based Cheddar and Plant-Based Cheese & Herb – the vegan snacks join the brand’s current portfolio of gluten-free crackers and graham style Kookies. Both flavors are now available online and at Sprouts for $5.29 per 4.25 oz. box, with full distribution slated for September.

Dole

Dole unveiled its newest product innovation: Dole Boosted Blends Berry Spark. The smoothie is crafted with frozen fruit (blueberries, bananas and blackberries) and “boosted cubes” (dark cherries, acai and flax). It was designed to support cognitive health, memory and focus. Each pack contains four pre-portioned 8 oz. individual servings for $10.99 online and at select retailers nationwide.

Trupo Treats

Trupo Treats unveiled better-for-you plant based treats inspired by nostalgic childhood favorites. Available in three flavors – Chocolate, Hazelnut and Peanut Butter – the treat is the only vegan and gluten-free chocolate-covered wafer bar in North America, the brand claims. The candy bars are available for preorder online for $17.99 per single-flavor 4-pack.
