Notable New Products: Enlightened Sundae Cones, Cotija Cheese and Ube Tea Drops

Better-for-you sweets and format innovation were the dominant themes among this week’s new products. While Honey Mama’s branched out of chocolate bars, Outshine looked to the shelf-stable category for its newest snack product. Check out the roundup for the latest new offerings from brands including Fly by Jing, Tea Drops and Kashi.

Honey Mama’s

Honey Mama’s introduced its first cocoa-less bar, Birthday Cake Blonde Truffle, which also marks the first release in its new Cake Series. The bar is made with a base of cashews, and filled with rainbow-colored shredded coconut ‘confetti,’ honey and vanilla. Honey Mama’s Birthday Cake Blonde Truffle Bar is available in-store at Sprouts nationwide and online in a 4-pack for $24.

Outshine

Frozen fruit bar maker Outshine launched its first shelf-stable product – Fruit & Yogurt Smoothie Pouches – in Blueberry Pear, Peach Raspberry, Strawberry Coconut and Pear Vanilla flavors. Available in the applesauce section, Outshine has blended real fruit and non-fat yogurt into grab-and-go pouches which will be sold at major retailers nationwide including Food Lion and select Kroger-owned stores for a suggested retail price of $4.49.

Kashi

Boasting “all the nostalgia of a Saturday morning waffle breakfast,” Maple Waffle Crisp is the latest flavor to join Kashi’s lineup of organic, plant-based cereals. The new product is made with whole grains and chickpeas and contains 4 grams of fiber per serving. Boxes of Kashi’s Maple Waffle Crisp are available at select retailers nationwide such as Kroger, Albertson’s/Safeway, Walmart and Ahold.

Fly by Jing

In celebration of Disney and Pixar’s new upcoming film Turning Red, the first animated feature by Pixar to feature an Asian main character, Fly by Jing has released a limited edition lunch box which includes its “Shorty Spice Trio”: Sichuan Chili Crisp, Zhong Sauce and Mala Spice Mix. The collectable pack also comes with two sticker sheets to personalize the box and retails for $55.

Gayo Azul

Caribbean Hispanic cheesemaker Gayo Azul announced the addition of a Cotija cheese to its lineup of Dutch-inspired, shelf-stable cheese varieties. The new Cotija offering is “perfect for hispanic dishes,” and is a sharp, salty cheese with a firm yet crumbly texture, according to Gayo Azul. The new variety is available at select retailers on the East Coast including BJ’s Wholesale, Fresco Y Mas, Key Foods, Market Basket, Publix, Winn Dixie and Walmart.

Enlightened

Better-for-you indulgence brand Enlightened introduced a new product format to its lineup of frozen treats: ice cream Sundae Cones. The low-sugar dessert is sweetened with monk fruit and comes in three with light ice cream and three with frozen greek yogurt varieties with flavors including Caramel Fudge, Strawberry Shortcake and Caramel Dark Chocolate Almond Butter. The new cones are available at Walmart, Sprouts, H.E.B, Stop & Shop for a MSRP of $5.99 per box of 3-cones.

Tea Drops & Copper Cow

Innovative tea brand, Tea Drops introduced a new flavors to its lineups of bagless teas this week. Its new Ube Tea Drop and Ube Latte set make a caffeine-free beverage with nutty, vanilla flavors and the latte set includes an individually packed sweetened condensed milk creamer from Copper Cow.

Following its collaboration with Tea Drops, Copper Cow Creamery also added to its latte lineup with the release of a Ginger Latte pour-over set. The set includes a single-serve ginger pour-over coffee pouch and a separate, individually packed condensed milk creamers.
