Toufayan Bakeries, one of the largest family-owned specialty bakeries in the United States,
is marking 100 years in business this fall. The centennial campaign invites consumers
nationwide to join the celebration through a multi-city retail tour, a chance
to win a culinary trip to Armenia where the Toufayan story began, commemorative
packaging, influencer collaborations, a downloadable recipe book and charitable
giving.
Few American family-owned bakeries reach the milestone of 100 years while
remaining independently owned and operated by the founding family. For
Toufayan, the centennial represents not only a celebration of its past, but a
commitment to continuing a legacy of bringing people together through quality
breads inspired by generations of tradition.
"Celebrating 100 years is an extraordinary milestone for our family
and everyone who has helped shape Toufayan's story," said Karen Toufayan,
Vice President of Marketing for Toufayan Bakeries. "While we're proud of
the traditions that brought us here, we're even more excited about the future.
This celebration is our way of thanking our loyal customers, retail partners,
employees and communities for making the past century possible and inviting
them to be part of the next one."
The celebration kicks off this month with the "100 Years: From Our
Family with Love" Tour, an interactive experience traveling to select cities
throughout the East Coast, with stops at community events and retail locations,
beginning with the Ramsey, NJ Farmers’ Market on September 27. Designed to
resemble a warm family kitchen, the tour experience features products, family
recipes, exclusive coupons and giveaways, historical brand storytelling and
opportunities to enter a sweepstakes for a journey to Armenia, celebrating the
family's roots and rich culinary heritage.
Throughout the centennial year, consumers will also discover
limited-edition anniversary packaging on select products, special recipe
content from chefs, creators and longtime brand partners on social media, and
opportunities to participate in the company's first-ever Centennial Community
Recipe Book. Ahead of the holiday season, Toufayan will offer this digital
cookbook featuring both treasured Toufayan family recipes and consumer
favorites.
Founded in 1926, Toufayan's story began with generations of Armenian
baking traditions rooted in the belief that bread brings people together. After
immigrating to the United States in the 1960s, Harry Toufayan re-established
the family bakery in Ridgefield, New Jersey, laying the foundation for what
would become one of America's leading specialty bakeries.
Today, the family business continues to be led by Harry Toufayan
alongside his children Karen, Kristine and Greg. Under their leadership, the
company has expanded operations in New Jersey and Florida while remaining
proudly family owned. Harry Toufayan has been inducted into the Baking Hall of Fame, and the family's story has been
recognized by the Smithsonian Institution’s Folklife
Festival as an enduring example of Armenian
American heritage and entrepreneurship.
Over the past century, Toufayan has continually evolved alongside
changing consumer tastes while staying true to its heritage. From its iconic
pita and authentic lavash to keto breads, gluten-free wraps and its newest Seed
Oil-Free Wraps made with pure avocado oil, the company's portfolio of more than
100 products reflects both tradition and innovation.
Giving back has remained central to Toufayan's identity throughout its
history. During the centennial celebration, the company will continue
supporting local food banks in communities across its tour markets while
expanding its longstanding commitment to breast cancer awareness through its
annual pink packaging initiative. Toufayan also proudly partners with
organizations including BStrong and Global
Empowerment Mission to help families affected by disasters and
humanitarian crises.
"As a family business, we've always believed success means showing
up for others," Toufayan said. "Generosity is part of our family's
story, and it's something we'll continue carrying forward for generations to
come."
