Expo East 2022 Gallery: Salty and Savory Snacks

During this year’s Natural Products Expo East at the Philadelphia Convention Center, booths were packed with a wide array of new salty and savory snacks. From plant-based meat sticks to grab-and-go seaweed packs to jalapeno potato crisps, there were plenty of options sure to please every consumer’s palette.

Good Planet

Washington-based Good Planet Foods came to Expo East with its new Plant-Based Snack Packs. Available in two varieties – Plant-Based Smoked Gouda with Almonds and Dried Cranberries and Plant-Based Cheddar with Cashews and Dried Cranberries – both 1.5 oz. snack packs will roll out into retail next month with an MSRP of $1.99 each.

The Good Crisp Company

The Good Crisp Company brought the heat to Philadelphia with its first spicy product offering: Spicy Jalapeno Potato Crisps. The chips join the brand’s existing core product offerings of Original, Sour Cream & Onion and Salt and Vinegar Crisps and seasonal black-colored Creepy Crisps.

GoodSam

Regenerative-ag focused snack food brand GoodSam showcased a suite of new products at the show including brazil nuts, shelled pecans and white chocolate chips. The company also has added several new offerings to its lineup of coffee beans. After a soft launch, the company said the new items will roll out in retailers including Sprouts and Erewhon later this month.

Frankies Organic Snacks

As it pushes further into the U.S. market, Canadian snack brand Frankies Organic Snacks unveiled revamped packaging across its entire portfolio of puffs and baked fries. The new bags feature bright, solid-colored backgrounds with different cartoon characters for each flavor.

Boulder Canyon x Yellow Bird

Boulder Canyon teamed up with Austin, Texas-based hot sauce brand Yellow Bird to create its newest LTO: Boulder Batch Yellowbird Habanero kettle-style potato chips. The chips, made with avocado oil and Yellowbird’s Habanero hot sauce, are available online for $23.99 per 6-pack of 5.25 oz. bags.

Gimme

California-based Gimme brought a new grab-and-go format of its seaweed snacks to Expo East. Available in three varieties – Sea Salt, Avocado Oil and Teriyaki – the new single-serve snack packs will roll out later this year. The new pack format, along with new dairy-free Cheddar and Chili Lime roasted seaweed snacks, all sported new branding, part of a larger rebrand that will roll out later this month.

Krave

Krave expanded its plant-based meat snack portfolio with its new stick format in Cracked Peppercorn, Smoked Chipotle and Korean Barbecue flavors. Each 1 oz. stick packs 6 grams of plant-based protein. The brand also sells plant-based jerky, which it launched under prior owner The Hershey Company, and years ago launched (and then discontinued) a meat and legume-based bar.

Cleveland Kitchen

Ohio-based fermented food brand Cleveland Kitchen showcased its new single-serve pickle chip pouches at Expo East. Available in two new flavors: Dilly Garlic and Hot Picks, the fermented snacks will soon be available in 3 oz. pouches.

Prevail

Prevail expanded its lineup of gluten-free, soy-free beef jerky with the launch of Original Turkey Jerky. Each 1 oz. serving of jerky has 80 calories and packs 12 grams of protein. The new offering is now available online for $6.99 per 2.25 oz. bag.
