We’ve covered the snacks half of the Sweets and Snacks Expo, and now a look at the Expo’s sweeter offerings. At this year’s show, both natural and conventional brands highlighted their natural, organic, sustainable or healthy confections. Rather then individually wrapped confections, many brands have turned to selling larger format, zip-top, resealable bags that allow consumers to indulge in as little or as much as they want. While candy and chocolate are hard to position as “health food,” selling moderation to consumers helps confection producers explain the role their sweets can play in a balanced diet.
