Notable New Products: Mediterranean-inspired Olive Oil Cake Mixes & Salmon Hot Dogs

This week’s notable new products saw brands creating better-you iterations of the classic hot dog, launching Mediterranean-inspired baking mixes and adding new flavors to their existing snack lineups.

Hu

Mondelēz owned chocolate company Hu launched its first milk chocolate bars. The lineup consists of Simple (plain chocolate), Hazelnut Butter + Crunchy Hazelnut, Cashew Butter, Crunchy Almond + Coconut Flakes, Almond Butter + Almond Crunch varieties. The Hu Milk Chocolate Variety 5-Pack is now available online for $30.

Elia

Baking brand Elia debuted its line of Mediterranean-inspired olive oil-based cake mixes. Available in three flavors – Vanilla with a Hint of Lemon, Dark Chocolate & Espresso and Grecian (citrus and almond) – each boxed mix includes a bottle of olive oil specifically portioned for the cake. Elia cake mixes are available exclusively online for $30 per box.

Blue Circle

Sustainable seafood company Blue Circle unveiled its newest product launch: Salmon Hot Dogs. The hot dogs are 96% Norwegian salmon and have a plant-based casing. With 7 grams of protein per serving,Blue Circle Salmon Hot Dogs are available online for $11.99 per 5-pack.

Swerve

Swerve, a sweetener owned by Whole Earth Brands, launched its first baking adjacency with a range of Swerve-sweetened chocolate chips. Swerve is a natural sugar replacement that contains no artificial ingredients, flavors or preservatives. Additionally, the brand will debut new pack formats, including jars and sachets, later this year. Swerve-Sweetened Chocolate Chips will soon be available online.

Clio

Clio’s has expanded its lineup of refrigerated hand-held bars with two new products: Limited Edition Key Lime Pie Granola & Yogurt Parfait Bars and Salted Caramel Mini Greek Yogurt Bars. The former, which contains key lime pie-flavored yogurt and graham cracker-style granola, packs 10 grams of protein per bar. The latter is crafted with caramel-flavored Greek yogurt covered in a chocolate coating and has 4 grams of protein per bar. Key Lime Pie Granola & Yogurt Parfait Bars are available exclusively at Sam’s Club for $12.88 per 8-count box and direct-to-consumer for $28 per 10-count box. Salted Caramel Mini Greek Yogurt Bars are available exclusively at Walmart for $4.27 per 8-count box.

Moon Cheese

Cheese snack maker Moon Cheese announced the release of its fifth flavor in its Crunchy Cheese Stick lineup: Wild White Chedda. With 14 to 15 grams of protein per serving, the cheese sticks contain four times more protein than leading brands, Moon Cheese claims. Wild White Chedda Crunchy Cheese Sticks are currently available online and will soon be offered at Walmart and Roche Bros.
