Farm to Ladle: Finger Foods Farm Launches Groundbreaking Preservative-Free Frozen Soups at Wegmans
Bloomfield, New York – [February 4, 2025] – Finger Foods Farm, a family-owned organic farm in the Finger Lakes, is excited to introduce its new line of farm-fresh frozen soups to Wegmans stores across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Featuring New York-grown ingredients (sourced directly from Finger Foods Farm and select local partners) and free of artificial preservatives, these soups bring farm-to-table freshness to the freezer aisle, offering busy households a nutritious, flavorful meal option straight from the farm.
Finger Foods Farm’s soup line emerged from a home-grown dilemma: co-owner Sarah Cookfair recalls, “I was tired of having to choose between health and flavor. I wanted something delicious, nutritious and easy. My whole family, including our pickiest eaters, always enjoyed soup so we started freezing the extras whenever we made it. Friends and family kept asking me for recipes, so I knew these soups would be enjoyed by a wider audience.”
Sarah and Alex Cookfair have 15 years of experience farming together, and Finger Foods Farm’s organic certification represents their dedication to making a positive impact on their environment and community. By sourcing fresh ingredients directly from their farm and neighboring farms in central and western New York, Finger Foods Farm ensures the highest quality food while also supporting the local economy. “We’re helping rebuild our local food supply chain,” says Cookfair.
Conventional shelf-stable soups require heavy processing and the use of additives to create flavor. In contrast, Finger Foods Farm soups are made with vegetable varieties Sarah and Alex have selected over the years for their high flavor profiles. Harvested and frozen at peak ripeness, each spoonful captures the best flavors of New York. Wegmans shoppers can find the products in the freezer aisle alongside other healthy frozen meals. “By freezing our soups, we keep that ‘fresh-from-the-kitchen’ flavor we think all soup should have,” explains Cookfair.
The collection of soups features a Butternut Squash, Tuscan Bean (vegan), and Southwest Vegetable (vegan)–with more varieties on their way. All flavors are gluten free, and as versatile as they are nutritious: “A simple bowl of soup can be the center of a meal with the right additions: fresh bread, a bit of cheese, or some protein,” Sarah explains. “Our goal is to provide a meal that’s easy and satisfying, so people feel good about what they’re eating and the support they’re giving to their local farms.”
