After building one of the most recognizable third-party certifications within the packaged food and beverage space, Megan Westgate kicked off the year with an even bigger goal in mind: putting guardrails around the concept of ultraprocessed foods for the benefit of the industry at large. While her new efforts, under the umbrella of the even broader-reaching Food Integrity Collective, seek to re-root the food system in continued long-term positive impacts, we’d be remiss to not recognize this integral industry effort during a time of widespread confusion and lack of consensus over what constitutes ultraprocessed food.
