Twelve years ago, sisters Amy and Shelby Zitelman and Jaclyn Horvitz (née Zitelman) set out on a mission to make tahini – that smooth, creamy paste crafted with ground sesame seeds – a more popular ingredient in the American market. The fam has made significant progress toward that goal, landing Soom’s products in over 4,500 retailers nationwide, including Walmart, Publix and Whole Foods Market, among others, and expanding beyond jars into snackable bites. Additionally, the company has built a large foodservice presence through national and regional distributor partners like Dot Foods, Sysco and Chef’s Warehouse.
