Seasoned Snacks Steal The Show At Summer Fancy Foods

BBQ, Sweet Curry, Truffle and plenty of other spices coated some of the most exciting new snacks spotted at this year’s Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City. From Rufus Teague’s new BBQ seasoned nuts to Pop Daddy Thai Honey Curry pretzels, it’s safe to say bold flavors were not in short supply. Check out the roundup below for the saltiest, sweetest and spiciest snacks seen at this year’s show.

Rhythm Superfoods

Veggie snack maker Rhythm Superfoods teamed up with the Tajin team to debut new, crunchy Jicama sticks, coated in the seasoning brand’s signature salt of course. In addition to its spicy new collab, the Rhythm team showed off two new crunchy dried veggie snacks: Shishito Peppers and Veggie Sticks, made with a mix of Sweet Potatoes, Snap Pea and Jicama Sticks.

Rufus Teague

Looking beyond sauces and seasonings, BBQ brand Rufus Teague has gone deeper into snacks. The brand highlighted two snacks at the show – Hot BBQ Honey Roasted Peanuts and BBQ Honey Roasted Almonds – building upon its existing set which includes lines of Crunchin’ Corn and Spittin’ Seeds, all of which are available in a range of BBQ-themed flavors such as Smoky N’ Salty and Pitmaster Blend. The two nut products launched during the pandemic, but are just now hitting shelves.

Beyond the Shell

California-based nut business Beyond the Shell added a few more kernels to its cluster. The family-owned company introduced a new mixed bag, Roasted With Sea Salt, featuring Cashews, Almonds, Pecans, Brazil Nuts and Macadamia nuts. Additionally, Beyond The Shell sorted out some of those Macadamia’s and launched it as a single-variety Dry Roasted snack as well. Both new products are available in 16 oz. bags for $13.99 and $18.99, respectively.

Pop Daddy

Snack maker Pop Daddy is trying its hand at some new pretzel stick varieties, exhibiting three flavor innovations at the show: Mexican Street Corn, Maple & Brown Butter, and Thai Honey Curry. The hand-seasoned, small batch made salty snacks contain 100% all natural ingredients and come in a 7.5 oz bag for $5 each.

Savorease

Kid-positioned Savorease introduced a new look for its Crispy Melts product, which it claims is the first “truly dissolvable” finger food. Available in Snap Pea, Herb & Spice, Sweet Carrot and Cheddar Cheese, the snacks’ new look aims to highlight its use for helping ease children’s transition to solid foods. The crunchy veggie-based snacks are available for $59.99 per 12-pack of 0.75 oz. bags.

For Good Granola

Global flavors continue to find new formats and at this year’s show, For Good brought Southeast Asian spices to the granola aisle. The Chicago-based, women-led company introduced a Sweet Curry granola made with buckwheat. The product, like the brand’s five other granolas, does not contain any oats. For Good’s Sweet Curry granola is available in 10 oz. bags for $11.40.

Pranzo

New brand Pranzo (meaning breakfast in Italian) is merging both its namesake eating occasion and snacks with the launch of Traditional Taralli, also known as Mini Bagel Crackers. Designed for both “entertaining and snacking” the tiny crunchy circles come in an 8.8 oz box. The brand was started by the Italian-born founders of W&S Foods and also launched sauces and pantry staples.

Jack & Friends

With a rebrand, jackfruit-based jerky maker Jack & Friends is introducing some new companions including Jack & Barb (Sweet Barbecue) Jack & Tom (Tomato & Poblano Pepper) and Jack & Teri (Ginger Teriyaki). The plant-based jerky contains up to 15 grams of protein, no added sugar and is gluten-free. Jack & Friend’s new flavors come in 2.2 oz bags for $8.99.

Sabatino Tartufi

Italian truffle-centric food maker Sabatino Tartufi has splashed its namesake flavor across a new category: croutons. The brand debuted its Truffle Croutons at this year’s show which are vegan, all natural and do not contain any colorings or preservatives. The product comes packed with a plethora of the tiny spheres in each 5 oz. bag.

Breaks

Chocolate company Scharffen Berger highlighted its new Breaks product line in four varieties: Salted Almond, Coconut and Quinoa, Salted Sunflower Seed, and Gluten Free Pretzel. Packed in a resealable 4.5 oz. pouch, the new chocolate bark products are vegan, made with oat milk, and sweetened with coconut sugar.

Date Fix

Date Fix, which made its official debut at Summer Fancy Food 2023, is looking to shake up the energy gel space with its date-based product. Available in four flavors – Original, Cinnamon, Ginger and Turmeric – the product is made from dates pureed with orange blossom water and is shelf-stable for up to 18 months.
