Loisa Makes Foray into Kitchenware with Four Core Tools for Latin Cooking

Loisa, known for their line of organic Latin spices and sofrito cooking sauce, expands into kitchenware made for Latin cooking with four core products, the Tostonera, Skimmer, Masher and Mortar y Pestle. Made with the same intentionality, thoughtfulness and level of care as Loisa’s flagship pantry items, the kitchenware line is crafted to create a more culturally connected at-home cooking experience.

It’s been decades since Latin kitchenware has seen innovation. As a brand built by the community and for the community, Loisa realizes that nostalgia and emotional connection to traditional cooking experiences has often overshadowed a lack of quality and function in the category. This tension has led to the persistence of subpar products and a lower quality cooking experience. By introducing a product line that represents the same amount of celebration, beauty and vibrancy that goes into every element of Latin culture, Loisa aims to empower a prideful cooking experience from flavor to end dish.

Loisa’s initial set of kitchen tools honor almost every touch point of the Latin cooking experience and have been designed with sustainable, high quality materials and functionality.

  • Tostonera $40: Made to effortlessly mash plantains into tostones, with an interlocking hinge design that is made to last, along with a weighted, grippy silicon base to avoid slippage. Crafted sustainably from bamboo.
  • Mortar & Pestle $40: Combining a bamboo mortar bowl with a colorful detached silicone base, repositioning is easy, so mojos, spices and salsas can be comfortably mashed in any preferred position.
  • Skimmer $20: With a slotted sun-shaped silicone head and bamboo handle, this tool lets you scoop without a scratch from any pot or pan. Shaped specifically with tostones and chicharones in mind.
  • Masher $25: Bowls are rounded, so we made a masher with an end that is, too. Designed with the strength we need to mash morning mangú, blend bean soup, or make super velvety taters, this tool fits as beautifully in your hand as it does in your cocina.

“Para la cocina, para la cultura. For the kitchen, for the culture. That’s the essence of why we do all that we do. Since the beginning, we’ve been grateful to receive immense love and support from our community, helping us to grow every day and spread better Latin flavor. As we continued onwards, the power of this support had us thinking, what more could we do to deliver on our promise? So we looked at the full cooking experience we were having in our homes, and realized there was more we could do to carry things forward – always, of course, with an appreciation for tradition and the past. These new tools are the result of years of imagination, work, re-work, and reflection- and above all dialogue with our community about what would get us all to celebrate this culture and cook Latin-inspired dishes more often.”
