Mezcla: Peruvian Cocoa Peanut Butter Bar

Description

The organic chocolate that coats this bar is made from fully fermented cocoa beans and grown by smallholder farmers along the foothills of the Andean Mountain region in Peru. Our Peruvian Chocolate is smooth and has subtle floral notes that are characteristic of the cocoa beans in the region. And of course, we are pairing this delicious chocolate with peanuts, making this bar perfect for all you PB Chocolate lovers out there. This bar features artwork prevalent on Tumis, which are ceremonial knives made of bronze, gold, silver or copper and attributed to pre-Incan cultures such as the Sican and Chimu. Tumis consist of two parts – a semi-circular blade and a handle often representing the face of the Sican mythical god Naymlap. The Sican and Chimu used Tumis during ceremonies to sacrifice animals, and other pre-Columbian cultures such as the Paracas used them for cranial surgery. In modern times, the Peruvian government adopted the Tumi and its depiction of Naymlap as a national symbol to promote tourism. It is common to find Tumis on tourists gifts such as mugs and keychains. Many people in Peru also hang Tumis on their walls for good luck.
