Kiosco: Latina-Owned Food Brand Rebrands to Celebrate Latin Roots and Expand Mission
March 6, 2025 – Just in time for Women’s History Month, Latina-owned food brand Toast-It is unveiling its bold rebrand as Kiosco, a name that honors Latin culture and the vibrant food traditions that inspire its mission. Founded by Venezuelan sisters Maria Fernanda (“Mafe”) and Maria Corina (“Coco”) Cabezas, Kiosco is dedicated to making authentic, guilt-free Latin food staples more accessible to households across the U.S. The brand’s ready-to-toast arepas and pandebonos, can now be found in major retailers, including Publix, Walmart, and Whole Foods.
“This rebrand is more than a new name; it’s a celebration of our roots,” says Maria Corina Cabezas, Co-Founder of Kiosco. “Kiosco represents the lively heart of Latin American communities—the corner spots where people gather, eat, and share culture. That’s exactly what we want to bring to every home in America.”
A Journey Fueled by Family, Culture, and Entrepreneurship
Mafe and Coco grew up in Venezuela, where arepas were a daily staple in their home. After moving to the U.S., they longed for the traditional flavors of their childhood but struggled to find authentic, convenient options. Their solution? Creating their own. What started as a home-kitchen experiment turned into a full-fledged business, and in 2023, they took their dream to ABC’s Shark Tank, securing an investment from Daniel Lubetzky, founder of KIND Snacks. Since then, the brand has skyrocketed, landing on the shelves of top grocery chains and gaining a loyal following among Latin food lovers.
A Women-Led Brand Making History
The Kiosco rebrand is launching during Women’s History Month, a fitting moment to spotlight the entrepreneurial journey of two Latina women breaking barriers in the food industry. Less than 2% of venture capital funding goes to Latina-led businesses, yet Mafe and Coco have defied the odds, bringing their passion and cultural heritage to the mainstream food space.
“Women entrepreneurs, especially Latinas, are reshaping industries and challenging norms,” says Maria Fernanda Cabezas. “With Kiosco, we want to inspire the next generation of women and Latina founders to embrace their heritage and pursue their dreams fearlessly.”
Where to Find Kiosco
Kiosco’s products are now available in the frozen aisles of Publix, Walmart, and Whole Foods, making it easier than ever for customers to enjoy traditional Latin flavors without sacrificing convenience. The brand offers a range of gluten-free, ready-to-toast arepas and Pandebono Bites (Colombian cheese bread).
