Manna Tree is bearing fruit for its co-founder and managing partner, Ellie Rubenstein. In the past couple of years, the private equity firm has hit it big with investments in Good Culture and Vital Farms; still involved in Good Culture, the firm’s got food-system sized investments in New Primal, Gotham Greens, Verde Farms, Generous Brands and more. Rubenstein spent years studying food systems, and it’s clear that the companies she backs aren’t far from the supply chain — she’s clearly betting on companies that are able to grow as the food system gets cleaner. With so much attention being paid to de-junking the American diet, that bet is looking better with every investment.
