Review: Moshi Chips Have The Crunch You’ve Been Looking For

Moshi Kettle Cooked Potato Chips

Having originally launched with a line of Asian-inspired sparkling beverages, Moshi is now expanding into snacks with kettle cooked potato chips featuring similarly distinctive flavor profiles. The launch includes Roasted Garlic Miso, Sriracha Seaweed, Yakiniku BBQ, and Spicy Yuzu Kosho, with the first three sampled for this review. Across the range, Moshi delivers impressive flavor development and an especially satisfying crunch.

Things that stand out:

  • The extra-crunchy texture is excellent across all three varieties. The chips have a substantial bite that holds up well to the bold seasonings and makes even the 2 oz. format feel satisfying.
  • Yakiniku BBQ is a particularly strong interpretation of a familiar barbecue chip. It’s satisfyingly sweet and savory as you might expect, with a distinctive Asian-inspired spin.
  • Sriracha Seaweed combines noticeable heat with a rich, savory umami character. The seaweed component gives the flavor more depth than a straightforward spicy chip.
  • Subtle rather than overpowering, Roasted Garlic Miso offers another well-executed umami-forward flavor.
  • Depending on where you fall on the seed oil debate, cooking the chips in avocado oil may help support Moshi’s premium positioning.

Things to consider:

  • The packaging could use a stronger visual identity. While the flavor names are prominent and easy to read, the overall design feels somewhat matter-of-fact compared with the creativity and quality of the product inside.
