Rainforest Expands to New England With Mass. Warehouse
Rainforest Distribution has opened a warehouse in South Easton, Massachusetts, expanding its services beyond its home base of New York into New England, according to information posted online.
The Bayonne, New Jersey-based DSD house is one of the powerhouse independent food and beverage distributors in New York City, servicing natural brands like RISE Brewing Co., Olipop, Van Leeuwen, Aura Bora, Pop & Bottle and others across hundreds of area stores. Rainforest also has a distribution center in Frederick, Maryland that services more than 2,000 clients in the Mid-Atlantic, where Whole Foods is a top customer.
The distributor’s new South Easton facility, located around 25 miles south of Boston, appears to have opened earlier this year; a job listing seeking full-time warehouse workers posted by Rainforest in March describes the warehouse, located on 35 Eastman St., as “recently opened.” The company has also posted online job listings for drivers and merchandisers in the area.
Further details were unavailable, though a separate job listing for warehouse workers indicated that the facility will handle ambient, refrigerated and frozen products. The post describes Rainforest as focused “on innovative, healthy, perishable, local, and emerging brands that require incubation.”
The move brings a new player to New England’s food and beverage distribution scene, which includes names like Worcester, Mass.-based Polar and Chex, a major regional Whole Foods partner.
Rainforest did not respond to requests for comment.
