This week’s new food launches focused on function and saw brands adding benefits while maintaining a focus on flavor. Here’s the latest allergy-friendly, plant-based, and adaptogenic products to launch this week including new flavors from Lil Bucks and Parktake and functional innovation from ZEGO and Clevr Blends.

ZEGO
Kid-oriented food company ZEGO announced the launch of its newest product line Sunny Day Fruit & Veggie bars in Apple Cherry and Apple Raspberry flavors. The vegan-friendly bars contain 50% of the daily value (DV) for vitamin D and are made from sustainably grown and sourced organic California mushrooms. ZEGO’s Sunny Day bars will debut at Expo West and be made available in 5-count boxes at select retailers. The brand said it is also working on producing an adult-focused version for foodservice distribution.

Better Brands
Almost a year after Better Brands first unveiled its low-carb, high-protein Better Bagel product, the company has announced the addition of a new “Everything” Better Bagel flavor, marking the first expansion beyond its Classic variety. The company’s proprietary “grain-changing technology” produces a bagel with 90% fewer carbs than the traditionally made bakery item. The new flavor features garlic, onion, sesame and salt and will be available online for purchase, while supplies last.

Compass Coffee
Union Kitchen accelerator member Compass Coffee launched its French Roast tins in retail stores, leveraging the accelerator’s relationship with regional grocer Giant to bring its darkest roast to stores throughout the mid-Atlantic region. The roast was developed in response to consumer demand for this style of roasting, the brand said, and marks the 12th roast that Compass has launched in its signature tin.

Lil Bucks
Buckwheat-focused granola brand Lil Bucks added two new superfood-enhanced Clusterbuck flavors to its lineup: Snickerdoodle and Coconut Maple. The former embraces the “nostalgia” of Cinnamon Toast Crunch paired with Maca while the latter utilizes lucuma, and coconut and maple flavors. The grain-free superfood clusters are available online for $6.99 per 6 oz. bag.

Cheese snack brand Moon Cheese announced its latest innovation – Moon Cheese Crunchy Cheese Sticks – in four flavors: Cheesy Does It, Wild White Chedda’, Kick It Up a Nacho, Rowdy Ranch and Yum Inferno. The shelf stable snacks are made with real cheese and contain up to 15 grams of protein per serving. Moon Cheese Crunchy Cheese Sticks will debut at Expo West in March and reach select Whole Foods Market shelves by May.
