Brands Launch New Treats to Sweeten January

New Year’s resolutions only last so long, and brands are already testing consumers’ will power with new sweet treats. From breakfast granolas to ice cream for dessert, shoppers will find new launches from Ben & Jerry’s, Jamie’s Farm, Egglife Foods and more this month.

Jamie’s Granola

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Jamie’s Granola (formerly Bumble and Butter) is launching a new limited edition Chocolate Strawberry flavor. The granola is first roasted with ghee before being coated in Raaka Chocolate’s 71% unroasted dark chocolate and tossed with freeze-dried strawberries. Sold online on the brand’s website, the granola is available for pre-order now with orders shipping starting January 21.

Salt & Straw and Renewal Mill

Small batch ice cream producer Salt & Straw has partnered with upcycled baking brand Renewal Mill for the launch of Chocolate Salted Caramel Cupcake ice cream. Part of Salt & Straw’s annual “Veganuary” campaign, the plant-based ice cream is made with Renewal Mill’s Dark Chocolate Brownie mix, which contains Okara Flour — an ingredient made from soybean pulp. The ice cream is available in Salt & Straw’s 25 ice cream shops and on the brand’s website.

Egglife Foods

Low-carb wrap brand Egglife Foods is moving from savory to sweet with the launch of a new sweet cinnamon flavor. Made with egg whites instead of flour, the wraps are high in protein and contain monk fruit, offering consumers a zero sugar ingredient deck. Available exclusively at Sprouts locations, the new wraps will roll out to other retailers in March. The launch coincides with the brand’s new marketing campaign, which is designed to emphasize the brand’s “untraditional” product lineup.

Dandies Marshmallows

Vegan marshmallow brand Dandies is adding a new Maple flavor to its lineup. Positioned as either an indulgent snack or a baking ingredient, the marshmallows are made with real maple syrup and no corn syrup or gelatin. The treats are also allergen friendly, made in a nut-free facility and free of common allergens wheat, dairy, eggs, corn, peanuts and tree nuts. Offered in retail, the marshmallows are also available to foodservice customers.

NuTrail

Keto granola maker NuTrail added a new low-sugar flavor to its lineup: Birthday Cake, made with ingredients such as pecans, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut, almonds, sugar-free sprinkles and whey protein. The grain-free granola is sweetened with monk fruit and contains 3 grams of carbs per serving. NuTrail’s Birthday Cake Nut Granola is available exclusively at Sam’s Club stores nationwide for $12.78 per 22 oz. bag.

Seattle Chocolate

Confections company Seattle Chocolate unveiled its new Sunshine Collection truffle line alongside announcing its partnership with girl and women empowerment nonprofit Girls Inc. The collection includes the You Are Sunshine Truffle Bar, a milk chocolate bar filled with honey nut oat cereal pieces ($4.75 per bar); the Shine On Truffle Bag, which includes assorted truffles in a variety of flavors ($22 per 12 oz. bag); and the Sunshine Care Package, which includes both the bar, bag, a white chocolate lollipop and assorted stickers ($40). The new collection is available online and at select retailers nationwide including Wegmans, Central Market and Whole Foods.

Ben & Jerry’s

Ben & Jerry’s expanded its lineup of non-dairy ice cream with the introduction of Non-Dairy Boom Chocolatta and Non-Dairy Bananas Foster, both of which are part of the brand’s Core line and feature a center filled with chocolate cookie and a salted caramel, respectively. The chocolate flavor is made with almond milk ice cream while the banana offering features a sunflower butter base. Both new flavors will be available at select retailers nationwide for a suggested price of $4.49 per pint.

Talenti

Gelato maker Talenti added a new line of Gelato and Sorbettos flavor pairings in four varieties: Strawberry Margarita, Bourbon Fudge Brownie, Salted Chocolate Churro and Caramel Pretzel Blondie. The new line combines two “perfectly paired” flavors packaged in one jar; the pairings were developed by a group of chefs, mixologists and dessert influencers to include cocktail-inspired and sweet and salty recipes. The pairings line will rollout to select retailers in February 2022.
