August saw brands release new products designed to combat summer temperatures and get ready for back-to-school, from Coolhaus and French’s limited edition mustard flavored ice cream to easy breakfast options from Mom’s Best Cereal and Abe’s. Chosen Foods released a new line of Simmer Sauces made with avocado oil. The new sauces -- available in Muhammara Red Pepper, Spanish Romesco and Guajillo Pasilla Chili flavors -- are packaged in 12 oz. jars and are now available at Whole Foods locations nationwide.
Mom's Best Cereal
Mom’s Best Cereals launched Safari Cocoa Crunch, a gluten-free, puffed corn cereal made with cocoa. The new launch is available at a suggested retail price of $2.89-$3.49 per 12 oz. box at retail grocery stores and natural food stores nationwide.
Banza released three new chickpea-based pasta shapes: Alphabets, Casarecce, and Gemelli. The new shapes are currently sold exclusively online for $22 per 6-pack of 8 oz. boxes.
As part of a larger brand repositioning and rebranding, Brooklyn Biltong rolled out a new Lemon Pepper flavor of its air dried beef. The new SKU will launch 13 Bed Bath and Beyond stores in the New York area.
Overnight oat brand Brekki’s latest flavor is Vanilla & Cinnamon, available in 6-packs of 6 oz. cups for a suggested retail price of $12.99 at Los Angeles region Costco clubs.
In a direct-to-consumer play, Hydration company Nuun launched a 30-Day Hydration Challenge Kit, including 10 Nuun tubes (three Sport, four Vitamins, and three Immunity), one specialty water bottle, one workout sweat towel and a 30-day schedule to track hydration. The new launch is an online exclusive, sold on the brand’s website for $79.
Big Spoon Roasters
Big Spoon Roasters unveiled its redesigned packaging and released a new line of nut butters. The new line, now in 13 oz. jars instead of the previous 10 oz. packaging, features 11 new flavors including Almond Butter with Wildflower Honey & Sea Salt, Cashew Butter with Coconut Nectar & Sea Salt and Chai Spice Peanut & Almond Butter with Sea Salt.
Bulletproof’s newest launch is Innerfuel Prebiotic, an unflavored prebiotic dietary supplement which can be mixed with Bulletproof Coffee, smoothies and other beverages. Each 13.4 oz. package contains 20 servings and retails for $39.95 per one-time purchase or $35.96 for subscribers.
Los Angeles-based chef Caroline D’Amore, owner of restaurant D’Amore’s Pizza, launched Pizza Girl, a line of organic, locally sourced bottled Marinara, Puttanesca and Vodka sauces. The new line is available at Bristol Farms locations and online for $9.99 per 24 oz. glass jar.
Vera Roasting Company
New Hampshire’s Vera Roasting Company expanded its CBD-infused coffee line with the addition of a new higher dosage organic Wellness Blend Coffee, made with organic Arabica coffee beans. The new coffee contains 300 mg of CBD per 12 oz. bag, delivering approximately 10 to 15 mg of CBD per cup.
Vegan muffin company Abe’s launched a line of individually wrapped, 3.2 oz. muffins, available in four flavors: Lemon Poppy, Blueberry Pound Cake, Chocolate Chip, and Golden Corn. The new line is now available at retailers nationwide.
French's and Coolhaus
French’s and Coolhaus Ice Cream collaborated on French’s Mustard Ice Cream, a limited edition offering for National Mustard Day available at select locations in Los Angeles and New York.
Gaia Herbs launched Mushroom & Herbs powder in four varieties, Energy Thrive, Immune Shine and Mind Spring, available at health food stores nationwide. Gaia Herbs also recently rebranded, with new packaging design and a new website.
Amazing Grass’ newest addition to its protein powder line is Digest, containing 15 g of plant-based protein and 3 g of fiber. The new line is available in Tahitian Vanilla flavor.
Sports nutrition brand Optimum Nutrition released its first savory protein snack, Protein Ridges, containing 15 g of whey protein and 170 calories per one bag serving. Protein Ridges are available in Sour Cream, BBQ, Honey Sriracha and Cheese flavors at sports nutrition retailers and online for $19.99 per 10-count box.
Frozen Garden launched Fusions, a new line of single-serve, frozen water infusers, available in Strawberry-Lemon-Basil, Lemon-Pineapple-Ginger and Orange-Pineapple-Rosemary flavors. The line is designed to compliment the brand’s frozen smoothie kits and retails for $4.99 per bag.
The latest addition to Laird Superfood’s Instafuel instant beverage line is Unsweetened Instafuel, mixing freeze-dried Arabica coffee with the brand’s Unsweetened Superfood Creamer. The new line is sold for $12.99 per 8 oz. bag.
Frozen food brand Farmwise launched three new appetizers: Mozzarella & Broccoli Bites, Veggie Skins Broccoli & Cheddar Cheese and Veggie Skins Cauliflower & Cheddar Cheese. Shaquanda's Hot Sauce
Shaquanda’s Hot Sauce added three new flavors to its lineup: Spicer Smoke, Green Sass and Oohmami, available on the brand’s website and in select New York area retailers.
Cauliflower pizza crust maker Cali’flour Foods has expanded into frozen topped pizzas, available in four varieties: Artisan Margherita, Supreme Veggie, Classic Cheese and Chicken Pepperoni. The new gluten-free and grain-free pizzas can be purchased on the brand’s website for $11.95-$12.95 each.
Snack brand Smashmallow is moving beyond marshmallows with its latest product line, Smashgummy low-sugar gummies. The hot air balloon shaped gummies will launch in fruit and sour blends in 2020, and will retail for $2.99 to $3.29.
