Bachan’s Sweetens Things Up at Expo West, Debuts New Sauce Flavor

SEBASTOPOL, Calif. – Bachan’s, The Original Japanese Barbecue Sauce brand and category innovator led by founder and CEO Justin Gill, announced the debut of its new Sweet Honey Japanese Barbecue Sauce at Expo West.

Bachan’s Sweet Honey Japanese Barbecue Sauce adds organic honey to the brand’s beloved original family recipe. The crave-worthy condiment brings rich, warm honey notes to the umami-filled sauce and amplifies the bold, fresh flavors of soy, ginger, garlic, and green onion. Like all Bachan’s sauces, Sweet Honey is made with simple, authentic, and non-GMO ingredients using small-batch production and a cold-filled process. Sweet Honey can be used as a marinade, dip, or finishing sauce, and is particularly good when used on traditional barbecue like ribs or wings, as well as traditional Japanese dishes like pork belly yakitori skewers.

“At Bachan’s, we’re always looking for new ways to connect with family and friends through food, and the introduction of Sweet Honey pairs this classic ingredient with our original family recipe to bring Bachan’s flavor to any family gathering,” says Justin Gill, Bachan’s Founder and CEO. “Sweet Honey opens the door for home cooks and chefs around the country to experiment with what will surely become the favorite sweet and savory flavor combos of grill season. We’re so excited for everyone to get a taste of the newest member of the Bachan’s family of sauces.”

The cornerstone product for Bachan’s is its Original Japanese Barbecue Sauce, which comes from a multi-generational family recipe passed down to Justin by his own Bachan, (a Japanese American term of endearment for grandma). Launched in 2019, the Bachan’s family of sauces now includes the Original, Hot & Spicy, Yuzu, Gluten Free, Miso, and, of course, Sweet Honey. The brand has demonstrated an impressive growth trajectory since its start and is now widely available at more than 20,000 retailers nationwide, including Costco, Walmart, Target, Kroger, Whole Foods Market, Sprouts Farmers Market, Publix, Albertson’s, and more. The company also sells online at bachans.com and is the #1 best-selling barbecue sauce on Amazon.

Bachan’s is dedicated to creating small-batch, cold-filled sauces made from simple, authentic, non-GMO ingredients, inspired by Justin’s family recipe. The new Sweet Honey sauce launches to market nationwide at Walmart March 18, and will be available at Sam’s Club in April. Additional national in-store availability is set to follow in May.

Bachan’s product portfolio of six core Japanese Barbecue Sauce flavors—The Original, Hot & Spicy, Yuzu, Gluten-Free, Miso, and the new Sweet Honey flavor, will all be available to sample at Bachan’s Expo booth #5256, March 14-16, 2024.
