Mondelez's Nick Graham on The State Of Snacking

In the context of modern CPG, a better-for-you snack can be anything – from a function-enhanced bar to a low-sugar sweet or crunchy vegetable chip alternative. As the category itself seems to be expanding exponentially, the role snacks play in consumers’ lives has also evolved. Whether it be a change in habit or routine, the impact of a global pandemic or just a curiosity toward an emerging health or wellness trend, consumers are looking closely at the ingredients and values behind each bite.
According to a recent survey from Mondelez International, conducted in partnership with the Harris Poll, 82% of consumers said that snacks have served a different purpose at different stages in their life, while the vast majority reported that their idea of what a snack is has evolved over the past three years to include new foods and occasions.
