House of Joy
Debuts Limited-Edition Mooncakes for Fall Festival Season,
Inspired by a
130-Year-Old Cantonese Tea House
Golden Lava Custard and Roasted Black Sesame & Pu’er Tea mooncakes
arrive in a collectible keepsake box, available until Oct. 15 only
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. – Sept. 21, 2026 – House of Joy, a modern food brand rooted in
Cantonese heritage, today announced the limited-edition launch of its first
mooncakes, timed to Mid-Autumn Festival on Friday, Sept. 25. Inspired by
Lianxianglou, the 130-year-old Cantonese tea house of CEO Jade Cao’s family who
were first mooncake makers in China, the collection features two flavors, the
signature Golden Lava Custard and the Roasted Black Sesame & Pu’er
Tea. They are available through Oct. 15 only through houseofjoyfood.com.
The Golden Lava Custard Mooncake is the brand’s
irresistible signature: a buttery pastry crust that opens to a sweet, silky
custard center ready to flow. The Roasted Black Sesame & Pu’er Tea Mooncake
takes a deeper, more aromatic turn, balancing roasted sesame richness with
fragrant pu’er tea. Each bite-size mooncake arrives in a beautifully designed,
premium collectible pink keepsake box that is made to be saved and reused long
after the last bite, whether for jewelry, trinkets or other small treasures.
The result is a ready-made gift for the season of gratitude and togetherness.
The launch arrives as American appetites for Asian
flavors move well beyond the specialty aisle. According to Circana, retail
sales of Asian packaged foods in the U.S. grew nearly four times faster than
overall packaged food sales in 2024.
Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated under the full moon,
is a holiday of gratitude and reunion, sometimes likened to an “Asian
Thanksgiving.” By legend, the goddess Chang’e is reunited each full moon with
her love on earth by way of the Jade Rabbit, and the mooncake’s round shape
symbolizes completeness, reunion and prosperity.
“Mooncakes are how our family has said ‘thank you’
for generations,” said Jade Cao, CEO of House of Joy. “House of Joy is rooted
in Cantonese heritage, but we’re building a modern food brand for a new
generation, for anyone who cares about great food, quality ingredients and
discovering something new. These mooncakes are our invitation to share a little
joy at American family dining tables across the country.”
The limited-edition mooncakes are available until
Oct. 15 at houseofjoyfood.com, with free shipping on orders over $120. Follow
House of Joy on Instagram at @hojfood. The mooncakes are the brand’s
first release; a line of ready-to-heat frozen Cantonese dim sum follows in
early 2027.
