Wild Planet Elevates the Pantry at Expo West 2026 with Two New Bold Tuna Innovations and a Modern Brand Refresh
McKinleyville, Calif. (Feb. X, 2026) – Wild Planet, pioneer of wild, sustainably caught canned seafood, is heading to Expo West 2026 (Hall E, Booth #5339) with two new deliciously bold, flavor-packed innovations - Skipjack Tuna with Lemon & Pepper and Skipjack Tuna with Jalapeño - and a fresh new look that is redefining the canned seafood aisle for the modern consumer.
Starting to roll out this February at Whole Foods and Wild Planet's website, new Skipjack Tuna with Lemon & Pepper and Skipjack Tuna with Jalapeño are leveling up Wild Planet's expanding portfolio by meeting consumers' growing appetite for zest and spice. The debut comes at a pivotal time for the industry as consumers increasingly seek to elevate home-cooked staples. Because of this, the demand for complex flavor profiles like umami and vibrant heat has surged by nearly 80 percent (source), reflecting a shift toward maximalist pantry essentials that offer restaurant-quality taste without the prep work. Skipjack Tuna with Lemon & Pepper offers a bright, citrusy twist on a classic by combining zesty lemon and cracked pepper for a clean, acidic punch with 16 grams of protein. Taking it up a notch, Skipjack Tuna with Jalapeño taps into the heat-seeking trend by using real fresh jalapeños for a vibrant kick while providing 15 grams of protein. At only 80 calories per can, these innovations offer a high-protein solution consumers can feel genuinely good about choosing. Unlike most competitors that rely on harmful large-scale net fishing, Wild Planet's Skipjack Tuna is pole-and-line caught and net-free, a low-impact method that protects ocean habitats, dramatically reduces bycatch, and supports local fisheries, actively supporting responsible sourcing at every level.
"At Wild Planet, we've always prioritized sustainability and keeping our oceans wild, but we also aim to push the boundaries with superior flavors that make it easy to elevate the culinary experience at home," said Clint Mickel, Wild Planet Vice President of Marketing. "By combining our 100% pole-and-line caught skipjack with bold, trend-driven flavors like Lemon & Pepper and Jalapeño, we are proving that 'pantry staples' can be both incredibly exciting and deeply ethical."
Wild Planet also comes to this year's show with a first look at the brand's packaging refresh for its entire portfolio and a vibrant new logo, set to hit shelves throughout 2026 and into early 2027. The modernized look increases shop-ability on grocery shelves while preserving Wild Planet's sustainable roots with the iconic ocean and leaf logo that brand loyalists will recognize. Some of the changes include adding a "Premium" designation to tuna and salmon, prioritizing "Wild-Caught" and "Light Tuna" callouts to align with top consumer preferences, and adding a clear protein callout to every can. The updated design includes a new color-coded system organized by fish species followed by packing liquid and flavor, making the shelf much easier to navigate. Ownable graphic elements, such as a signature fish pattern on top of the can, will now serve as a visual thread across the brand's multi-channel presence to ensure Wild Planet stands out in grocery aisles.
Amplifying the brand's presence at Expo West, Wild Planet is excited to partner with Iron Chef, TV personality, and author Cat Cora. Attendees are invited to stop by the Wild Planet booth on Wednesday, March 4, at 1:30pm PST for a chef-led recipe demonstration and tasting. Chef Cora will showcase the versatility of Wild Planet's original Albacore Tuna, proving that sustainable, wild-caught seafood is the ultimate canvas for culinary creativity.
