Hu Marks Fairtrade Month With a New Mural & Global Impact Report
WHAT:
This October, in honor of Fairtrade Month 2025, Hu – the chocolate brand known for its commitment to simple ingredients and ethical sourcing – is spotlighting the farmers and cooperatives behind its Fairtrade-certified ingredients with a mural celebrating their impact. Commissioned by Fairtrade America, the mural illustrates the importance of sustainable sourcing, ethical supply chains, and connecting people to the farmers behind their food.
Hu is also sharing highlights from its 2024 Fairtrade Impact Report, which details how the brand is helping drive meaningful change across Fairtrade communities worldwide.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE REPORT:
Gender Equity in Indonesia: Hu’s Producer Development Initiative (PDI) supported coconut sugar farmers to implement a gender policy, with women now representing 48% of cooperative membership and taking on leadership roles.
Strong Farmer Cooperatives in Sierra Leone: Hu partners with three producer co-ops (Munafa, AGRI-Leone, Strong Roots), supported through the West Africa Cocoa Program, strengthening young farmers with training on child labor prevention, environmental standards, and governance.
Commitment to Fairtrade: Hu sources its cocoa, coconut sugar, cashews, vanilla, and quinoa as Fairtrade certified, and uses Fairtrade ingredients whenever certification is available.
WHY IT MATTERS:
Fairtrade Month is about honoring the farmers and workers at the heart of the global food system. For Hu, that means putting humanity at the forefront – creating chocolate that tastes good and does good.
