Distribution Roundup: Stryve Picks Up Multiple Chains; TidBits Heads to Albertsons
Stryve Racks Up Multiple Retailers Across the Country
Beef biltong maker Stryve Foods has announced its expansion into several prominent retail chains, including Southeastern Grocers, Cub Foods, Lunds/Byerly’s, Fresh Thyme, Lowes Foods, AAFES, Holiday Oil, Timewise, Family Express and Dash In.
“Our mission is to help Americans snack better, and we’re doing that by providing people with convenient and significantly more nutritious snack options that support a healthy and active lifestyle,” said CEO Chris Boever in a statement. “The inclusion of these retailers in our distribution network allows us to reach a broader audience and further deliver on that promise.”
Stryve produces a line of high-protein, low-carb air-dried meat snack products including Sliced Biltong in Original, Hickory and Peri Peri flavors and Steak Bites in Original and Hatch Green Chile varieties. The products pack 14g to 16g of protein per serving depending on the variety and contain 0g of carbs.
The news comes after Stryve’s meat snack brand, Vacadillos, landed nationwide distribution in Albertsons Companies stores last month. According to Stryve, the recent distribution gains reflect the company’s dedication to making high-protein snacks accessible to a wider audience.
In May, the company announced during its Q1 2023 earnings call that it had completed its portfolio rationalization efforts – cutting approximately 180 SKUs – and shifted focus to distribution. In the quarter, the company landed its Vacadillos beef sticks in approximately 10,000 7-Eleven Speedway stores nationwide.
TidBits Lands in Albertsons
TidBits, which markets a line of better-for-you, low sugar gummy candy, has landed its products in 230 Albertsons Companies stores nationwide, according to a LinkedIn post. The banners include VONS, Randalls Food Market, Safeway, Shaw’s Supermarkets, Pavilions and Tom Thumb.
Founded in 2022, TidBits – which operates under the tagline “bingeworthy morsels with none of the guilt” – offers gummies in Tropical Citrus, Açai Grape and Wild Berry flavors. Each 1.4 oz bag has just 60 calories and 4 grams of sugar.
In addition to Albertsons, the brand’s products can be found at all 1,800+ Target locations nationwide as well as Foxtrot and JuicePress, among other retailers.
Mozaics Goes Nationwide With Whole Foods Market
Vancouver, Canada-based food tech company Planting Hope announced that its full lineup of Mozaics Real Veggie Chips flavors is now available in the Salty Snacks set at Whole Foods Market stores nationwide.
The natural foods retailer will carry Mozaics veggie-based popped chips in BBQ, Sea Salt and Zesty Salsa varieties. The snack has 2 grams to 4 grams of plant-based protein depending on the variety.
“Whole Foods Market’s selection of the full line of Mozaics Real Veggie Chips flavors to add to its store nationwide is strong validation that Mozaics are squarely on trend with both consumers and retailers,” said Julia Stamberger, co-founder and CEO of The Planting Hope Company in a press release. “Consumers are demanding more nutrition from their snacks; with real veggies as the #1 ingredient in a popped chip.”
Earlier this year, Planting Hope announced plans to shift its growth strategy beyond the grocery store due to the rising costs of retail. In August, the company announced it would acquire QSR cafe chain Argo Tea from Golden Fleece Beverages, focusing new growth on the food service channel.
Stamberger previously told NOSH that for Planting Hope’s portfolio – which also includes Hope & Sesame plant-based milk, Veggicopia dips and snacks and RightRice – food service offers more efficient returns as well as a low-risk space for future retail innovation.
Snow Days/Against the Grain
Two of HumanCo’s brands, Snow Days and Against the Grain, have struck a deal with Whole Foods Market, according to a LinkedIn post by CEO Jason H. Karp.
The retailer will now carry Snow Days’ grain-free, organic Cheese Pizza Bites and Against the Grain’s seasonal Garlic & Rosemary Dinner Rolls. Both HumanCo brands are gluten-free, grain-free and made without seed oils.
