Notable New Products: Groot-Themed Pistachios, Blueberry Muffin Energy Bars and Animal-Free Ice Cream Sandwiches
This week’s new food launches saw brands collaborating with everyone’s favorite baby tree, Groot, launching better-for-you iterations of classic breakfast treats and spicing up the rice category with jalapeño rice cups.
Wonderful Pistachios x Groot
In conjunction with the release of Marvel Studios’ “I Am Groot” shorts on Disney +, Wonderful Pistachios rolled out limited-edition packaging for its 24 oz. bags. The new packaging comes as part of the brand’s “Groot Gets Crackin” campaign, which also includes a 15-second TV spot. Wonderful Pistachios’ Groot-themed 24 oz. bags will be available exclusively at Walmart beginning in July.
RXBAR
RXBAR announced this week the debut of RXBAR A.M., a new line of protein bars. Designed to bring “a no B.S. approach to morning bars,” said Eileen Flaherty, RXBAR senior brand manager, the bars are available in three varieties – Honey Cinnamon, Peanut Butter and Chocolate and Blueberry – and pack 10 grams of protein. The RXBAR A.M. lineup is available at Whole Foods and Target stores nationwide starting at $2.49 per bar.
GoGo Squeeze
New York-based snack maker GoGo Squeeze expanded its snack offering lineup with new functional offeringsHappy BrainZ and Happy ImmuneZ. The former features a blend of apple, banana and pineapple with the benefits of iron and Omega-3 fatty acids to help support kids’ brain growth. The latter is a blend of apple, strawberry and rhubarb that has immune-supporting nutrients like zinc, vitamin B12 and plant-based prebiotic fiber. GoGo Squeeze Happy BrainZ and Happy ImmuneZ are available in 10-packs at Walmart for a suggested retail price of $6.98.
Clif Kid Zbar
Blueberry Muffin is the latest flavor to join Clif Kid Zbar’s lineup of organic, whole-grain energy snack bars. The new SKU packs 12 grams of whole grains per serving and contains no high fructose corn syrup. Clif Kid Zbar Blueberry Muffin is available at retailers in-store and online for $9.99 per 12-pack.

Rice company Riviana announced the launch of two new varieties of its Minute Rice Cups: Jalapeño Rice and Jasmine Rice & Red Pepper. The former is a blend of onion, green peppers and jalapeños while the latter combines Minute brand’s jasmine rice with the brand’s red quinoa. Both new products are available at select retailers throughout the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest.

Colorado-based whole milk yogurt brand noosa has entered the frozen dessert category in retail with its new line of Frozen Yoghurt Gelato. Available in four flavors – Strawberries & Cream, Chocolate Fudge, Sea Salt Caramel and Honey Vanilla Bean – the frozen dessert ranges from 4 to 5 grams of protein per serving. Noosa Frozen Yoghurt Gelato is now available at retailers nationwide.
Coolhaus x Brave Robot
Novelty ice cream brand Coolhaus is leveraging its animal-free milk protein made by its new parent company Perfect Day with the launch of Brave Robot x Coolhaus Animal-Free Ice Cream Sandwiches. Available in two varieties – Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Mint Chocolate Chip – the frozen treats contain 290 calories per serving and are available for $7.99 per 3-pack.
Lenny & Larry’s
Lenny & Larry’s expanded its nutrition bar lineup with the introduction of The BOSS! Immunity bar in Peanut Butter Cup, Chocolate Mint Brownie, Caramel Macchiato and Maple French Toast varieties. All four flavors boast 17 grams of protein and contain BC30, a probiotic ingredient that supports immune health. Lenny & Larry’s The BOSS!
