To kick off the new year, many brands looked to stand out on shelf with new flavors of customer favorites or revisions to their packing. The latest flavor launch from Ithaca Hummus is Buffalo Ranch, a plant-based take on traditional buffalo chicken dip. The new flavor has hit shelves at Stop & Shop, Wegmans, Target, Fresh Direct and Hannaford Fresh for $4.99 per 10 oz. tub. The company launched the flavor as part of a “Big Game” promotional bundle, offering consumers a kit of hummus and Simple Mills crackers that will arrive in time for the Superbowl.

Sustainable chocolate maker Alter Eco added two new dark chocolate bars to its Blackout collection: Total Blackout (100% cacao) and Raspberry Blackout (85% cacao). Total Blackout, made with organic cocoa beans and organic cocoa butter, contains no added sugar, while Raspberry Blackout features four grams of added sugar. Both bars are available now on the brand’s website at $3.99 per 2.65 oz. bar.

KOS released new flavors in its plant-based powder protein powder line -- Blueberry Muffin, Salted Caramel Coffee and Unflavored and Unsweetened -- each containing 20 grams of protein per serving. The new flavors, along with three new supplement offerings, are now available on the brand’s website.

The newest flavor from low-sugar grain-free cereal brand Three Wishes is Fruity, containing eight grams of protein and three grams of sugar per serving. The cereal is sold for $5.99 per box at Sprouts and Wegmans, as well as in 6-packs on its website for $39.99.

Olive leaf tea maker Steep Echo released a Wellness Collection, a bundle of three of its functional teas -- Tend (detox), Bloom (immune defense) and Repose (relaxation). The collection features three 12-bag boxes available or $45 on the brand’s website.

Frozen ready-to-eat spoonable smoothie brand Sweet Nothings launched its sixth flavor, Tropical Greens. The new flavor features spinach, pineapple and spirulina, along with its banana, cashew, date, chia and flax base, and is sold online for $47.88 per 12-pack of 3.5 oz. cups.

Laird Superfood expanded its functional coffee product line with Focus Coffee, a medium roast ground organic Peruvian coffee containing rhodiola extract, organic lion’s mane extract and coffee cherry. Focus Coffee is sold on the brand’s website for $17.95 per 12 oz. bag.

Talenti expanded its gelato offerings with the addition of four new flavors to its new Layers line: Confetti Cookie, Strawberry Shortcake, Cookies and Cream and Chocolate Pretzel. The brand also added to new flavors, Honey Graham and Peanut Butter Vanilla, to its core gelato line.

After eight years in business, Cocoa Truffle bar maker Honey Mama’s rolled out refreshed packaging across its portfolio. The new colorful packaging is resealable and also more sustainable, according to the brand, incorporating a switch from a lined kraft paper wrapper to paper box packaging.

KIND partnered with the National Collaborative for Healthy Equity to release its second annual KIND Equality Bar. The company said it will donate one million of the Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate Nut bars, which feature packaging showcasing diverse silhouettes, to food insecure communities.

Canada’s Little Northern Bakehouse added to its gluten-free bread offerings with three new varieties made from organic whole grains and seeds: Ancient Grain, Oatmeal and Original. The new loaves, which retail for $6.99, are available in the freezer aisle at Sprouts and other natural food retailers in the U.S.

The new line is available on the brand’s website for $5 per 10 to 15 serving pouch of tea.

Sattva Vida rolled out new packaging for its line of plant-based Energy Bites, now featuring a “color-block yogi” with its logo, which founder Karen Lauterstein said is a “thoughtful look which matches the brand’s flavors and philosophy.”

Meal replacement brand Huel has expanded its Hot & Savory line with three new flavors: Yellow Coconut Curry, Spicy Indian Curry and Sweet and Sour. The vegan instant meals contain 24 grams of protein and 400 calories per serving, and are sold for $76.68 per one time purchase of a seven-serving bag, or $69.99 through a subscription.

Kentucky-based bourbon-inspired food and beverage company Pappy & Company released 23-Year Bourbon Barrel Aged Pure Maple Syrup, a limited edition take on its original maple syrup, which uses older barrels to produce a slightly richer flavor. The new syrup is available on the brand’s website for $48 per 12.7 oz. bottle.
