Instacart Names Chris Rogers as Next CEO

Instacart has named Chris Rogers as CEO, effective August 15, assuming the position from outgoing chief executive Fidji Simo.
Rogers joined Instacart in 2019 and has served as its chief business officer since 2022. With his ascension to CEO, he will also join the company’s board of directors.
The news comes after the online grocery business announced that Simo, who joined the business as CEO in 2021, announced his upcoming departure to serve as head of applications at OpenAI.
“Over the last four years, we’ve transformed Instacart into a growing, profitable, leading technology platform that’s helping reshape the grocery industry,” Simo said in a press release today. “We’re building a generational company at the intersection of technology and food, and Chris is the right leader for our next chapter.”
Simo oversaw Instacart’s transition into a public company in 2023. In its latest earnings report, Instacart announced a 10% increase in revenue in the fourth quarter of 2024 to $883 million, and full-year revenue rose 11%. However, slower growth in the broader grocery industry has kept investors and analysts worried about long-term prospects.
According to the company, Rogers will bring over 20 years of business experience to his new role, including 11 years at Apple where he served as managing director for Apple Canada.
Rogers also sits on the board of data firm SPINS and for the Ad Council.
“We have a world-class team, deep partnerships, leading technology, and a bold vision for the future, and I’m honored to step in and lead Instacart’s next chapter,” Rogers said in a statement.
