Steak ’n Shake Introduces Beef Tallow Fries™ and Beef Tallow Tots™ to Retail at the Natural Foods Expo in Anaheim, California
The brand is expanding the sale of packaged beef tallow products to grocers and specialty retailers.
INDIANAPOLIS, March 6, 2026 — Steak ’n Shake is introducing Steak ’n Shake Beef Tallow French Fries™ and Beef Tallow Tots™ for retail, expanding its lineup of packaged products connected to the brand’s signature beef tallow cooking tradition.
Steak ’n Shake launched its packaged beef tallow products for use in home cooking in 2026.
“Steak ’n Shake is a leader in all things beef tallow, including its Beef Tallow Fries™ and Beef Tallow Tots™,” said Christopher Ward, chief global supply chain officer. “We’re introducing an array of retail products all connected to beef tallow. Every product is free of additives, preservatives and chemicals. Our goal is to bring the products to retailers around the U.S.”
Steak ’n Shake, born in 1934 on Route 66, is a classic American brand, famous for its 100 percent Beef Tallow Fries™. Cooking with beef tallow delivers superior, noticeably crispy fries and tots compared to those cooked with seed oils. Beef tallow is a saturated fat that produces fewer toxic compounds, like free radicals and other inflammatory substances, than seed oils do. The famous fries are cooked in 100 percent beef tallow, with no preservatives, chemicals, or additives, and zero traces of seed oils. This means the Beef Tallow Fries™ are perfectly crisp on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. The Beef Tallow Tots™ offer the same golden crispness, bringing the Steak ’n Shake experience to home kitchens.
We have entered the Golden Age of Fries and Tots!
