La Monarca Bakery Kick-starts Its Annual Earth Month Fundraiser to Support ECOLIFE Conservation’s Monarch Butterfly Programs
(Los Angeles, California) [April 1, 2025] - With Monarch butterfly populations in Central Mexico declining 80%+ since the 1990s, La Monarca Bakery – a beloved LA bakery chain known for its authentic Mexican pan dulce, cookies, and coffees – is kick-starting its Annual Earth Month Circles Fundraiser for its non-profit partner ECOLIFE Conservation in its 12 bakery-cafes in Los Angeles.
Throughout Earth Month, customers are invited to donate $1 to ECOLIFE Conservation’s Monarch Butterfly programs in Michoacán, Mexico. Supporters will receive a commemorative “Friend of the Monarchs” circle badge, which they can either take home or display on the walls inside La Monarca locations, transforming the stores into vibrant, symbolic Monarch butterfly forests. 100% of all proceeds will directly fund ECOLIFE’s conservation work.
This campaign reaffirms La Monarca Bakery’s commitment to preserving and protecting the Monarch butterfly population, and is a result of La Monarca Bakery’s long-standing partnership with ECOLIFE Conservation, which cultivates impactful solutions to care for the delicate habitat of the Monarch butterflies that La Monarca Bakery honors in its namesake.
“Caring for the environment is part of our company’s mission and we are dedicated to helping preserve the Monarch Butterfly. This Earth Month, we hope to inspire our communities to take action and make a greater impact together,” said Ricardo Cervantes, CEO & Co-Founder of La Monarca Bakery.
“The Monarch butterfly is not just an iconic species; it is a vital indicator of our planet’s health,” added Connor Leone, CEO of ECOLIFE Conservation. “La Monarca Bakery’s partnership helps us implement sustainable solutions, like building fuel-efficient stoves that reduce forest degradation, improve human health, and protect Monarch habitat. We are grateful for their continued dedication and the positive change we are creating together.”
Last year’s campaign raised over $10,000 and with your help La Monarca seeks to double the amount this year!

About ECOLIFE Conservation:
Founded in 2003, ECOLIFE Conservation is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to a world where people and nature prosper together. ECOLIFE Conservation implements sustainable projects in underserved communities to protect environmental and human health. In Mexico, ECOLIFE’s Tsasú Project - supported by La Monarca - helps preserve the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve by reducing forest degradation and improving public health through the installation of fuel-efficient stoves in households around the reserve. Each stove reduces indoor air pollution by 90% and offsets approximately 3 metric tons of carbon emissions annually.
