Tamarind Heads

Tamarind Heads is a specialty condiment brand whose BBQ and hot sauces use a tamarind base rather than tomato or corn syrup. Co-founded in 2019 by Sashi Kumar, Jim Giberson and Brittney Lim, the New York-based company uses a proprietary "pod-to-bottle" process and a short clean-label ingredient list; the sauces are vegan, gluten-free and preservative-free and come in Medium and Hot. Its Medium sauce won the Specialty Food Association's 2024 sofi Gold Award for Barbecue Sauce. The brand sells direct-to-consumer and through retailers including Central Market and Fairway Market.
