The Task At Hand: The Accounting Manager reports to the Director of Accounting and plays a key role in leading the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance across financial reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced CPG environment and is excited to support the demands of a newly public company. The Accounting Manager will collaborate cross-functionally, support SEC reporting, and help build scalable processes as the organization grows. 


In This Role, You Will:

  • Manage financial close and reporting by leading key components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, ensuring timely and accurate results, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Oversee day-to-day corporate, business unit, and international accounting, including GL activities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with company policies and internal controls
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and components of consolidated financial statements
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K), including financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A support
  • Support the annual audit by preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring appropriate documentation
  • Contribute to cash flow analysis, working capital monitoring, and banking or covenant reporting as needed
  • Support other activities and projects aligned with business priorities
  • Support technical accounting and compliance through monitoring evolving accounting standards, evaluating their impact on the company, and helping prepare technical accounting memos (e.g., ASC 606, 842, 718, 350/360)
  • Support equity accounting, stock-based compensation expense calculations, and related disclosures
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting and tax requirements
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls in accordance with SOX requirements
  • Assist in developing, updating, and enforcing accounting policies and procedures
  • Partner with Supply Chain & Operations and drive support through working with the inventory accounting team on inventory valuation, cost updates, co-packer invoice review, and operational accounting
  • Monitor and analyze COGS, production variances, freight, and other manufacturing-related costs
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure data accuracy and support close-related activities
  • Continuously improve systems & tools by identifying opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve accounting workflows and month-end processes
  • Serve as an accounting lead for ERP oversight, including system enhancements, internal controls, and data integrity
  • Drive adoption of close management tools (e.g., FloQast) and automation opportunities to accelerate close timelines
  • Support system implementations and contribute to the development of dashboards and analytics tools (e.g., PowerBI, Looker) for internal reporting
  • Provide team leadership through day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to AP, AR, and GL staff
  • Help build a high-integrity, high-accountability culture grounded in accuracy, compliance, and collaboration
  • Support the development and growth of team members through clear expectations and constructive feedback


In This Role, You'll Bring With You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, while an MBA or MS is preferred
  • CPA is required  
  • 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role 
  • Experience in a publicly traded company, preferably within the CPG or manufacturing sector 
  • Strong technical accounting research skills and experience drafting technical memos 
  • Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, or manufacturing/CPG environments is highly preferred 
  • Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm) strongly preferred 
  • Experience with ERP required or highly preferred; experience with automation/close tools (FloQast, Blackline) is a plus 
  • Experience designing or improving accounting processes to support a scaled, efficient month-end close 
  • Experience leading close acceleration efforts and implementing scalable processes in a high-growth environment     
  • Experience with CPG or inventory accounting is a strong plus     
  • Demonstrated expertise in leadership and relationship-building 
  • Able to interact effectively with all levels of management across all functional areas 
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance 
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Slack, and other professional platforms 
  • Proven team leadership and development skills 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities 
  • Organized and able to prioritize in accordance with company requirements and compliance standards 
  • Strong reasoning and persuasive skills 
  • Up to 10% travel required: Although this role is a remote work-from-home position, we “Farmers” do meet as a company and/or as a department a few times a year. Anticipate possible travel up to a few times each quarter
